This 8 point was a good 300 yards away. I thought it was a doe when I shot it. Luckily I had not used my either sex tag yet.

I was thinking this too ^^^^^

But, then I thought maybe he dropped that little 8 (not having any binos) and with iron sights.

Any hunter that consistently kills mature bucks on public land is a good hunter.

Those hunters that consistently kill mature bucks with a BOW on public land is a very good hunter.

Bragging on ya a little East Texan!!!!

even though it was a white tail its ears pretty much covered them up. i use binoculars for spot and stalk but the kind of hunting i do here in ks they are just more stuff to carry. if your hunting antlers, if they are too small to see without telescopic's at 3-400 yards they are to small.

Thanks Uncle Swamp

… out of all those racks only about 10 were with a bow.. 30’d most of the rest but in bow range for the most part … can’t see more than 40 yards or so in the places the deer move during daylight

You have my utmost respect to regularly take good bucks from public land and to use a hang-on with sticks exclusively.

I still use hang-ons with sectional stick ladders but not exclusively. I favor a Summit climber now that I've aged a bit

You da man!

… that’s what I was looking for… validation from a game warden… thanks your honor lol

… but Swamp if you can shimmy up a tree in a summit… you can hang sticks

… the only reason I like sticks and hang on over climber is you can get up in more than a loblolly pine… most spots the deer are in is thicket and branched oak around here….the mature pines are pretty much void of any type of wildlife

I still use the hang-ons (have 3 Millennium 100s). Don't use then as much as I used to. One is still in a creek bottom from last September.....I need to go pull it down.

I have several sets of stick ladders (4 or 5 sections slide together for 16 to 20 feet). I've never used the kind you're using, but have come close to buying a set or two over the years to save weight.

I favor the Summit Goliath or Viper now (aluminum versions). Can move/climb very quickly and quietly. Have a couple of em. Great stands.
