That works with my dog quite often too. Or, if I pretend to put something in it that I'm eating, that often works too.
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again.

The dog didn't make that up. A social media attention hound did. A German Shepherd can be easily trained to sit still in front of food until he receives a cue to proceed.

Yeah we call that a dog that has the owner trained. I got two little mutts here come sit expect a treat every time I finish lunch. Why would they do that??? Because I gave them a treat one day after lunch. Then the next and next. So now it's just routine. Dogs like routine if it is something they like easy to do.

Yup, easy. I took out LPD to the vet for her 1 year vet checkup years ago. After the exam and shots, vet offers the dog a treat as she does to all of her patients , LPD just sat there looking at her and the treat. Vet inquired if there was anything wrong that we hadn't discussed as the dog hadn't taken the treat. I explained that she didn't except treats from anyone but the family without permission. Asked the vet to offer the treat again and then released the dog. Sophia moved closure to the vet with a hip shuffle and with one lap of her tongue the treat disappeared, followed by a couple of lip smacks. As a bonus, she got a rub on the top of her head from the vet.
