Lol I’m trying! Today that big sow with 3 cubs showed up, but only had 2 cubs with her now. Not sure if she weaned one off (not sure if they wean off one at a time or all at once) or if one got killed by a boar?
And also a small boar came in.

I got one more week till Spring season ends. Might get out one more time if I’m lucky!

That sow should get rid of yearlings all at once. When she does there will be a boar in tow. Had a big shooter boar on a big black sow that got rid of two beautiful cinnamon/blonde yearlings this last week but the pair of them were only visible in the morning when we are unable to hunt. 3/4 of the sows with yearlings on our baits got rid of their cubs jar last week.

I only hunt bears during the Spring season. Title will have to stay the same.

Yup! That’s exactly how I’m feeling right now lol.

I pushed off all my yard work and spring clean up outside for bear hunting. Just a few days ago I sacrificed 2 days of hunting to fix my lawn mower and get the grass cut for the first time this year.

Things are getting rough around here. My wife doesn’t get it!

Baiting only lasts so long. Lawns and mowers can be done later! Make sure the wife knows that!!

Well June 6th was the last day I went hunting. I ended up having 8 bears brought into me for taxidermy in a span of 4 days right after that.

I was so sick of skinning and fleshing bears that I didn’t want to see another bear and decided I was done hunting.

Today June 16th was the last day of season and I decided I would go give it one last shot.

I walked in and noticed a bunch of wood splinters down on the ground at the bottom of my tree stand. Flipping bears wrecked my ladder.
I attempted to climb the ladder 3 times, and each time I got to that step I just couldn’t allow myself to take that chance. Ladder was flexing more than I liked.

The bears chewed a good chunk away 6 and a half feet high. I really didn’t want to get hurt on Father’s Day.

So I went home and called it a season. I’m disappointed I didn’t get a bear this year.

My batteries were dead on the trailcam when I took it down today. Last pics were taken on June 5th. Sucks I missed what was coming in the last 11 days.

A new sow with this years cubs showed up and hopefully this big guy comes back next year!

I hope you guys enjoyed following along! Next year I will move my other bait and find a better spot for it. I’ll do this again next year!

I've built several wood stands over the years. Can't think of one the bears haven't destroyed.
Better luck next year JP.

Those bears seem to still have nice fur.

Dang, that stinks. Smart move to trust your gut and not climb that ladder. Like you said, not worth getting hurt.

Looking forward to next year's post already!

Ya it’s surprising how long those winter coats last on them.
