Sorry Les. No ratting this year. Sure sucks but water is so low this spring that I wouldn't even make it into the ratting lakes. Plenty to keep me busy though. Skinning feet, fleshing and Stretching a little Grizz I got last fall that was getting too comfortable chasing trucks and people. 3 wolves 4 wolverine and another bear still in the freezer

Some of the chopper pad. Going to save so much time and work on the last day of geese hunting from now on. More hunting time

Peaceful. I burned a lot of the brush I cut. Piled up the white willow for singeing geese next spring. Best clean burning flame

Traditional knowledge keeper award. Sure proud to see that.

He also got the gwichin language award and the sports award but the TK keeper is the one that I'm most proud of.

There’s a lot of left handed guns and a lot of youth guns available but very few options for left handed youth guns. Found a micro Midas with bottom eject and grabbed it ASAP. Be hard to keep it put away until his birthday. That’ll last until he gets his first semi auto. Stainless 243 and 22 mag next. Lucky kid.

Made 5 boxes for 6 new 280s. One trap for replacing after catches for now. See how I like the traps and maybe get more. I have scrap plywood left to start in 10 more slightly bigger 330 belisle boxes for a dozen traps.
Got a wolf on the fleshing beam and a small grizzly thawing. Fall bear so it’s going to take some work to flesh it. Luckily i skinned the feet and head before I froze it. Staying busy while it’s rainy and cool. Got terminator 2 playing right now while I work. Quick cigarette break and back to the beam

Couple foxes I kept. My grandpa picked off the dark one. Eye shot so no bullet damage at all on that one. I trapper the bright one in a 8 inch savageau.

I was planning on taking off to my camp to finish the landing pad in the cool weather but plans changed and now I’ll be heading up the highway towards Tuktoyaktuk (TUK) to help my parents out. They’re having some mechanical issues with their Argo so I’ll go get them, Bobby and My nephew kullen back to the road with skidoo in the morning. They’ve got a nice set up out at husky lake now.

I hauled a quad to aklavik along with a load of Pepsi and ginger ale for some friends moving to the coast for the summer. Bobby drove some of the bigger rivers. We had a cup of coffee and pulled my grandpa's dock in while water was barely high enough to help get it off the muddy beach before returning back to Inuvik. Luckily some rain raised the water and one nicely placed Boulder to help swing the dock and I was able to let the sea ark do the hard work with a few good tugs with the bowline. The dock was damaged during Ice break up and was missing one log.

Better get to work now and get the wolf done before my next break

Sounds like Tuk has a storm surge warning for Sunday. Stay safe. Seems like yesterday your boy was in a highchair with a gun catalog, he sure grew fast.

Wolf ear

I heard a few reports of an aggressive grizzly last fall so I went and found it. It had buck shot in the ears and face so it must’ve been warmed before and had to go. We had a cool week last week and I got a lot of fur done.
[Linked Image]
Kept a good strong fire going along with two fans and the bear dried up nicely. I scraped it three times during the drying and used paper towels to soak up any grease.
[Linked Image]
I’ve been in the warehouses all day. Right from morning coffee and I’m still out here. Bobby was pulling bait screws out of marten boxes as I sorted and hung traps. Lots of sweeping and throwing away garbage along the way. Big warehouse looks much better now.
[Linked Image]
5 of last years 8. Two black and one grey gone already. Finally pulled them off stretchers once the warehouse was cleaned up. Still a lot to do though and I’ll not tired so I’ll be out here for a couple more hours.
There’s 2 mountain and 3 delta wolves hanging there.

Will you market those wolves and bear at the auction next year or tan them for sale and use?
I tanned my damaged wolves myself there is a lot of good useable fur on damaged wolves not worth the cost to send to tannery though and not worth shipping.
Good well handled wolves like yours sell for a fair price at the auction but if you can wait they sell much higher tanned if you want to market them that way.

I’ll send to FHA Boco. I’ve been Getting a good price with them.

I added a Henry golden boy 22 mag with large loop to my collection this morning. I won it on $25 ticket

My boy helps me with fur and anything else I need help with whenever I ask him. Usually I give him some money at the end of the season for all his hard work. This year I surprised him and rewarded him for all the help throughout the year with something I know he'll make good use. 👌🏾
[Linked Image]

I sent him out to the truck to grab the parcel. Told him I don’t know what it is then let him open it. Man it’s nice to see Bobby get excited for new hunting supplies. Should’ve seen his face when I said next up is a benelli semi auto once he outgrows this one.
