Anything should work. My 11 and 13 year old caught a few in duke 1.5s this year.

If you can use body grips I would forget about using foot holds.

That's all I've ever used. A 160 bucket set works real well.

Have never built or even seen one, but for groundhogs, seems like it ought to be possible to build a standard coni box.......except make it double ended and use two 160's. Top board full length, bottom board partial length so you can butt the back end up to foundation wall......and let them enter box from back corner / bottom. Boards on top half of the ends to just above the slots for the springs. Helps with box integrity and to limit access to non targets? Like a double door cage trap.......catch them coming or going.

RBG 160s and stuff them In the den entrance. Ray Charles could catch wood chucks that way.

Don't use footholds for woodchucks.

1.5 ls with a strong spring.
Bed trap right at the opening, and stake it short so he cat get too far down in the hole.
Use a snarepole if he is eating in your garden.

I caught a lot of them out dirt floor barns using #1 longs they held them fine. Hawbakers coon lure was very attractive to them. Had a bunch of summer gigs catching those things for folks around here.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I’m from Ohio and I love duke 2s cause they have strong springs and they always catch ‘em kinda high and I have had ghogs escape 1.5s in muddy conditions. Really whatever foothold you have will work cause I’ve never had one chew

I just caught one this week I posted a photo of in a #120 at the den hole. Box it tight and you can get it right behind the ears/head and they won't get whole body out of hole.

There is probably a reason he asked about foot holds. Local laws maybe not wanting some incidental dead for example. Otherwise I also prefer body grips or snare. Yet have caught them in foot holds and box traps.

Shooting is most fun.

But he asked about foot holds.
