Slid a bit today and it made me nervous. I normally wear hiking boots and use a foam pad. I’m looking at Cougar paws, pitch hopper and maybe ridge hook.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Skateboard sneakers
Think about it , a asphalt roof is just like a skateboard

They are fairly cheap , easy to find , very flexible , great grip

Add grippy rubber coated gloves and you are like Spider-Man.

Have several ridge hooks , a chicken ladder and PiViT tools.

And a full body safety harness when it gets hairy.

Get the Pitch Hoppers, you won't be disappointed. Especially on hip roofs with dormers. And to get to the roof, you need a stable ladder. Get ladder levelers for the bottom and a stabilizer for the top.

We have lots of stuff, we’re always buying stuff to see what works.

Cougar paws
Pivit
Ridge hooks
40 ft ladders
Roof boot
Ridgepro-this one works really well and is fast

Plenty of tie in stuff too.

We’ve looked at the goat but haven’t purchased one.

They all have their place. Whatever the cost, it’s cheaper than a fall. I had a ladder kick out on me when i was nearing the second story once. That was a really bad day.

I helped a fellow ADC operator use a goat system the other day. I think I'd stick with the RidgePro, ropes and harness.

I like my goat. I just bought a few more piles and it’s 35’ long now. There is a place for ridge hooks, ropes and the the pitch hopper but don’t overlook the goat, it’s great for quick inspections or accessing the peak. Then I may transition to a pitch hopper and or ridge hook on a short ladder (7’).

Cougar paws and ridge hook. Always try to have ladder feet on the grass or mulch. If I must set up on concrete, asphalt or decking, I use a foam pad to preclude any ladder feet movement. Bungee cord that ladder to the gutter so there’s no movement.
