I have the urge to cage the sites that have not been raided yet but it’s nature so I’m staying out of it. That and I saw 7 yesterday similar in size to the ones pictured.

Nothing that a steel-belted radial tire
& a quick flick of the steering wheel can't cure.

Snapping turtle populations here in New York State
have exploded since they have gained almost total
legal protection, and the trapping of snapping turtles
has been outlawed.

While some protection is warranted, the pendulum has
swung too far in the other direction & snappers have become
a plague upon many other types of wildlife including muskrats,
wading birds, migratory waterfowl, various fish species,
& the American way of life !!!

The death of some snappers is a good thing !!! laugh

I have seen Red Fox nearby waiting for the turtle to finish laying. Night time hunters better get there early.

As many as I see dug up along our roads, it is amazing how many turtles we really do have. We don't have any shortages in our area.
