V.. I don’t know that you haven’t done this but I added an aluminum box to my last sled like you have, a good engineer I happen to know helped me layout the bolt connections. He said the most important thing was putting butyl tape strips between the connecting points/edges. Said it would eat any unfelt vibration and impact that would crack aluminum. Worked great.

I would say a day or 2 by the snow on the ground. It was a good catch but it was just a Bridger so was not set up for wolf . We had 2 number 4 there and a marten foot in other so what I think happened is we caught a marten and it was jumping around and the wolf went after it and got caught. Was pretty impressed on the 4 holding him. He was jumping around and lunging pretty good and all I had handy was my 10mm so I just dropped him quick . After shooting many different animals on trap line with the 10mm I would never count on it fo bear protection I am shooting Underwood Extreme penetrators and hard cast and I am not impressed. Normally I don’t shoot them My trapping partner carries are dispatch gun but I was not going to wait. Yeah, I pack a 44 magnum and I've shot a couple black bears with it, and even the "big magnum" I wouldn't depend on for bear protection, especially a grizzly. Only pistol I've ever shot that I thought would be decent bear medicine is a 454 Casull (or a Contender with various rifle chamberings) but you may as well pack a rifle as lug any Casull I've ever had ahold of around.

I own a bear bait company and spend a ton of time around lots of bears . I only pack a hand gun for when if one is chewing on my leg or visiting me in my tent . 99 percent of the time I am packing a 458 socom it is devastating to a bear . Last year I built a 460 Rowland because over the years I just was not impressed with the 10 . 2 years ago I pulled up to a marten set and a lynx’s was snacking on 1 and it took off so I smoked it with the 10 and it still did not die. Granite I shot it in the brown star fish but still you think it would of done it . Dispatch it with a 22 mag . Shot 3 wolves ,caribou, lynx, beaver , and 2 Wolverine with it so far not impressed. Had a friend shot a moose with one multiple shots It did die by blood loss over time . All wolves hade no pass through . I only pack the 10 on the snow go because I don’t want to loose the Rowland if it falls off in snow on the trail . I like the 1911 frame it is comfortable to shot and not as heavy as a 44 .

My 44 is a Taurus Ultralite, so it is super light to pack, and because it has rubber grips that fit my hands very well it is comfortable to shoot. A friend of mine has the Smith and Wesson version with wood grips, I shot it three times and didn't want a shoot it any more, those wood grips hurt. I to like the 1911 frame, they are just comfortable to shoot. I hunt hounds and guide, I bought the 44 and started packing it years ago after I did have a bear chewing on my leg. If I am actually planning on shooting one, or have a client that is that I may have to back up, I pack my Guide Gun in 45/70, but the 44 is one me from the time I get dressed until I get home. Over the years I've shot a couple bears with it, because it is what I have on hand and have used it to finish crippled bears. I've also shot a deer and an elk with it. It works, but there is not a lot of knockdown there, unless you brain them it is about like a bow, they will eventually die of blood loss. On the trapline I pack a 22 or a 22 mag for dispatch and the 44 usually stays home in the winter.

I am surprised the 10mm was not a pass through on the wolves. Thats actually shocking.
