I just want to get back to having some muscle mass. That was also a goal I was shooting for. I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe how I'd withered away. I went out and bought a decent home gym and it's amazing how quickly I turned that aspect around. Other than having the lowest BMI on the planet, my physique looks like it did when I was 25. Took about six weeks.

Weight loss or gain is a simple math equation unless you have an extreme illness. If you consume more calories than you burn you will gain weight. Eat more calorie dense foods that won't fill you up as fast. Peanut butter, whole milk, ice cream, breads, fatty meats, etc. I am currently cutting a bit of weight and my diet is heavy on cottage cheese, greek yogurt and whole fruits/vegs/meats.
Buy a food scale and download a calorie tracking app. Weigh all your food a few days to get a baseline for how many calories you are actually eating each day and go from there. It is a pain to do but it will give you valuable info.

I am currently cutting a bit of weight and my diet is heavy on cottage cheese, greek yogurt... Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are loaded with protein, that's why I've been eating them. You're eating them to lose weight? I've been looking more at protein intake more than calories. I'm getting more than adequate protein. Time to add some calories to the mix.

Sounds like you need a good de-wormer! There you are. I was wondering where you've been.

Been chasing my tail mostly. Covid sucked in 2020 but I'm not bouncing back from this round quite as easily. I'm down 30 pounds from it and I'm about half scared of losing any more.

I went into the ambulance , in 2019 , weighing 170 at 5'11 . By Thanksgiving, I was at 125 lbs.. 45 lb weight loss in two and a half months. That was miserable ! Its taken me almost five years to get back to the mid 160's.

Lets be clear, if your 65 you're not going to gain weight by putting it on as muscle. Its very difficult, to near impossible to put on muscle when you get older.
Every man at some point is going to look back at their ideal body they once had and pine for the days when they were buff, but those days are long gone.
The best you can do is eat right and exercise and that will keep one foot out of the grave and enjoy your food and good health. I turn sixty-five in November and I'm as ripped as any kid you'd want to compare me to. By kid I mean any healthy twenty-something year old. There's no doubt lower testosterone levels make it more difficult but it's achievable. Do a search on the subject and virtually everything you find is contrary to your post.
