Getting hot and my ac don't want to work.
I can take my walking stick and give the compressor and good whack then it will engage but one good bump in the road and it stops again. Was wondering if a good shot of pb blaster might help

Clutch gap might be too wide? Take a shim washer out or loose wire connection?

Next time it acts up, don't just wail on it with your walking stick. Carefully jiggle the wiring...if it engages, you have an intermittent bad connection. If it still doesn't engage, give the compressor itself a whack. If it engages, you probably have an intermittent open in the clutch coil or the clutch gap is too wide, and you'll need a new compressor.

I believer that clutch can be replaced without doing the entire compressor, was told that about my truck back last summer.

It can, if you can find parts. I've done a bunch of clutches and coils on Hondas, I don't know that I've done any on Fords. But if you can find parts, it can be done. Used to do a lot of compressor pulley bearings on Hondas too.

I put an ac clutch on my 98 ranger some years back

Found a a\c clutch kit and the master cylinder went out.
Think rather roll the winders down and be able to stop lol

Dang cotton you sure getting all the luck. Sucks it is all bad.

I’ll go Flintstone before I go without AC. I had to replace my compressor once in my Ford. But I had over 350K miles before it went out. Getting close to 466K now.

dang truck is only 24 years old ya would think parts would last longer.

Take clutch off of AC, should be a few washers of various thickness. Take the thinnest out and reassemble. If that does not work, take apart and take the next thickest out, put the thinnest back in and so on.

I have done it on one I had. Simple job that should be able to get done in a couple of hours
