Keep them in it.You can then dunk it in the Brook and keep them wet and cold.

Works best if you add a layer of moss first.

You are correct. It's a Plfuger. Have 2 other fly rods with Shakespeare reels on. Just got more brookies today and am frying them for supper. The wife left for California this morning to visit a sister that is dying from cancer, so I will have to eat them all myself. Bruce T. what do you fry your trout in? I only use butter.

Trout basket we called them. I think they came from England but not sure. And yes wet moss in the basket to keep trout cool and from drying out.

Never fried trout too fresh or they will curl up in the pan. Always said give them a few hrs to proper die before fry.

Them small trout the best 6"- 8" for frying in salt pork the way to go. Fry up right crispy. Same way fry up smelts. We get a lot of big trout here in our bay nets mostly and not many under 16" in a 4" mesh but prefer the small ones you get on a rod.
