I've been working "on the road" for the last 25 years, missed most Christmas concerts, actual birthdays, sporting events, even missed the birth of one child. Woke up one day and they were grown up. Millions of people live that lifestyle.
I don't recommend it to anyone. If I could do it again I'd have moved the family or found a different job.

Until today, I thought I only knew of one person who at times seemed to be asking for advice or sympathy and would have questions for the others on this site, and then ignored everything he heard. Now I know of two people. Seems pretty obvious things aren't really going to change.

You can always make more money.
You can NEVER make more time.
How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?

Working hard isn't the same as working all the time. Here's some food for thought for you. The guy across the road from me is a really good fella. He's also a workaholic. He owns (that I know of), 3 houses, around 100 acres, and makes several hundred thousand dollars a year as a Vice President of Engineeringat a local company. The house he lives in is 5000 Sq ft. It's that big because he had 5 kids and a wife when it was built. HAD being the operative word. They got a divorce after 20 something years of marriage. He was never home. Never went on vacation with them. Rarely went to their after school activities. When he took vacation, he was bailing hay, bush hogging, working cows, pretty much anything but fooling with kids. Like I said, he's a good fella and neighbor, but he's also all by himself now.
Don't loose sight of one dream chasing another one. The Wife and kids will Never Say... We're glad he was Never here.

As was said, Jesus invites us to reorder our lives with his kingdom first. You cant serve two masters, and yet it sounds like you may be trying to serve multiples. Thats not for me to call you out on since I dont know your heart. Thats a conversation between you and Jesus. Financial security/retirement can be an idol just like anything other than Jesus. What is the fruit of your work tendencies when it comes to all aspects of your life? Does it produce peace, love, joy, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control? If not, it is probably a branch that needs some pruning

Exactly....its not for us to judge others..PERIOD. GOD CALLS us to all accomplish his will. Some listen, some dont. We are all still human and prone to mistakes.

I’ll make it simple…if you’ve missed school functions, firsts, birthdays, holidays, etc, then you’ve put your job above you family and work too much. It's a good thing some people do. Otherwise we wouldn't have over the road semi drivers, airline pilots, train engineers and the list goes on

He’s volunteering to spend time away from his family, he’s not made to do it. Heck, my oldest youngest is single and I tell him to work all he can and save up. He works 7 days a week and 12hr shifts. He will take off a weekend for a break every now and then, but he’s SINGLE. There’s a big difference, lol.

How many hours do you have so Faah ? Monday &Tuesday
And will you take July 4,th off...
Or succumb to the temptation of Double time $$$$$$$$$$$
And for go ,the food, party, and festivities with family and friends?

You still need balance but let's face it--too many people in this country are lazy. And, it's getting worse.
