Was handed a yard Pear to eat today.
Wow !!
Iv'e never had a yard pear ripe to eat (Juicy and Sweet).
This early in the year your talking first week of July.
What variety ripens this early ?
3 maybe 4 generations old the farm ,
I did not photo the tree, i did get a pear to go.
It was a delight to eat it.
I want more.

Tyson is an early pear. It's been compared to Seckel.

I was hoping someone had one in there yard.
3-4 of these in the yard and the farm critters are not wandering far.
This is my greatest find this year so far.
Tx for any help.

Looks rock hard, is it ripe this early?

Looks like a Bartlett. They are ready in July-August.

Also...Bartlett pears have a very nice "peary" odor.

Planted two pear trees last Fall in a shooting lane. Bought them in Little Mtn.,SC from a wildlife nursery. They were about 10 feet tall. Hoping for pears pretty soon.

Yes it does look green, but easily chewable, sweet and juicy, and delicious.
We ate several he had picked.

I'm 71 yrs old and I have never eaten a tree ripe pear this early in the year.
We are talking S/W Mich.
I will check them out.
I mean the blackberries are just starting to ripen
First for me.
And I will be going back to investigate the tree closer
