If you want to be able to set traps easy with your hands lift weights and concentrate on your forearm strenght and hand strenght,Also pecs for setting 330s. Make your hands like vise grips.

Just use a 3/4 in or so wrench.

Northerntrappero being the same age as you all I can say is not many poeple are age can set traps with there hands unless it’s like a long spring or a stoploss or a 110 but I have to use my knees or my feet for coil springs. Also play with your traps a little bit and figure out the best way setting them and think about what would make them easier to use, I don’t know about y’all but when I go out to look at my traps I always stay for at least 30 min setting them and setting them off and adjusting them lol

If somebody smarter than me knows how to post videos I can email them a short video of a 66 year old setting a brand new out-of-the box Belisle 330... in seconds. It's not about strength as much as it is technique. With apologies to the young, aged/infirmed, etc, that no longer have enough regular strength to pull off the simple feat.
I set 15 to 20 330's a day on my trapline and haven't ever used a setter since I was 19 and knew no better.

Carefully! Sage advice about carrying trap setters. #3 Bridger got me one opening day of cat season a few years back. I was happy I had the setters in my bag that morning. Just enough room to slip a setter onto the lever beneath the trapped digit and get the lever depressed with my knee. Could have been touchy for sure, because I already had my cable cinched down. Even if I hadn't it wouldn't have been a fun adventure. I was 100 miles from town and my truck is a 6 speed. I always carry them now, and I get my traps set before I anchor them down these days. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/07/full-17030-223283-386594001_10211199360497656_3950955167123952998_n.jpg)
