Red fox have done that to us here in PA. Twice over the years we lost our small flock of 8-12 birds to fox. We've lost individual birds to hawks but when it's a massacre like that it's always fox. They were going over and under a three-foot fence or getting them while they were free-ranging.

We reinforced the pen about four years ago by adding hardware cloth a foot up and a foot out from the base and added bird netting over the top. We stopped free-ranging in the spring and only let them out other times of the year when someone is home and the dogs can be outside.

We haven't lost a bird to predators since.

Problem.is these folks are transplants.and don't understand ya gotta kill the culprit
