A note, when I say no entanglement, I mean nothing more than sparse grases and light weeds.

I've CRd fox around my home and caught and released my own cats unharmed. The key is no entanglement.

That makes me feel better. There are definitely kitties in one area where I trap and I’m certain some are peoples pets because they aren’t real spooked when we come in to hunt deer. I released a big black Tom cat from my mb 450 and he did just fine. Two days later I saw him on the trail cam hunting chipmunks!

Maybe this whole trapping/snarling thing isn’t your cup of tea?

How can you ever guarantee no entanglement unless trapping in a parking lot or a manicured golf course? There's always weeds or something there they can wrap that cable around and foul swivels. If there isn't even any weeds or anything, where would you even set a snare?

I questioned that. Like you want it in a trail that already exists but you need cover to disguise it. How can you be sure that little weeds won’t bunch up into big weeds and cause entanglement? Unless you find a really small funnel point that is more open on either end?

And to Grumley ; it is very much my cup of tea. I live in an almost urban area with very little opportunities close enough to get to before n after work.
I understand that incidentals can and do happen, but I still wanna try my best to avoid em
Maybe there is something wrong with me but I still have a twinge of guilt in my heart when I walk up to a trapped animal. Even a target one. I know why I’m doing this but if I didn’t have a conscience, I would be no better than a poacher or a sadist

Cable restraint states are a joke, so you lasso a critter and hold that critter there until him/her shows up to dispatch that critter all the while a kill spring to entanglement would have dispatch such mentioned critter in short order.

I should learn my lesson and not reply to your threads seeing the last timeI got a weeks vacation from doing so.. you seem to be the darling of trapperman with a hint of anti…

She seems to be doing the best she can.
And I applaud her her on that mission.

I would argue being “negative” to calling out bullcrap. What did I post that’s in statement ? Cable restraint states are cruel and unusual punishment in my preview. In my experience with cable if you’re worried about killing non targets forgo the killspring… dogs on a leash don’t fight it… that’s real world experience.

I think the only reason we have cable restraints is because it gets so cold in late season that the regular traps don’t wanna fire through the crust..
PA doesn’t allow conibears on land either so I can’t imagine that lethal snares would ever be legal on land. Suppose this is a compromise. I can’t comment further because I simply do not know.

Laws are laws Grumley.
She's dealing with what she has to work with.

I dislike the CR laws myself.
The thing that made respond was the " hint of anti".
Alway have respected you on this forum .
Just never seen her post anything but positive and wanting to learn/ giving out good advice Vet stuff.

Okay, I’m going to be gentle and logical with this response… ND isn’t PA, I don’t deal with the neighbors dog running free (last thing I would want to do is kill that dog) and I understand that cable restraints in such states is a compromise, my question is who are you compromising with. I would argue if you’re going to hang cable have the knowledge to hang it and be humane in that endeavor..

Is that non aggressive enough bucks?
