I won't be surprised if they call off all prosecutions they have going against him. In light of everything happening, the optics look more like a persecution than a prosecution. Their internal polling will likely begin to show it isn't serving them well.

In the Nixon example the special counsel was appointed under legislation passed into law. That law has since lapsed.

Four other judges is not the power of law or constitution. Particularly when it appears the federal bench has gone rogue.

I’m not sure rogue is the correct term use for a federal bench. Looking at Supreme Court justices that have shown clear political loyalties to a candidate and then proceed to rule that a president is above the law and cannot be prosecuted seems to be more in line with rogue behaviour.
