Thats a beauty shakey. How many bullet holes did Ian put in it,lol.
Did you get the skull too?
You should get a taxi to re attach the claw sheath that slipped. Nope, no skull. The thing is if you do not rug it, the hide will deteriorate faster. It will look like someone's great grandma over time.Do you want that ? If you rug it you will preserve the hide better along with the value. Find a place for it.Toss some crap you have on a wall and give it the respect that it deserves.[/quote] No, no rug. Like I said, maybe in the future. I’ve seen old tan bear. He’ll be fine the way he is. Polar bear are processed differently than other bear. Glad I brought it to International. Do you rug or mount all your catches?….lol Honour it man, do it.

Actually it is much easier to clean and rejuvenate the leather after about 20 years if it is not made into a rug. International is the premier fur dressers in the world,it will be good for your lifetime with minimal care.

Honest question…how can it deteriorate if it isn’t made into a rug? If it’s tanned professionally it should be fine. I’ve got bear hides almost as old as me and they’re still looking like the day I picked them up. It filled the whole room = WOW. so you bought it? Can someone else buy one? Bring them to the USA? WOW.....jk Bought it raw off Muskrat411, shipped from Aklavik NWT. They are for sale here in Canada, but bloody expensive just for a little 6 or 7 footer. Can’t import into the USA. I can’t even sell it in Manitoba, but I can possess it. We’re the only province that allows polar bear imports but no exports. The lady at the legal department for Mb Conservation said she has one too, and we’re both stuck with it unless things change. The other provinces can import/export. She said that the bear are too critical for economy up in Churchill and they don’t want to create a market for them in Manitoba. There’s the odd fella that tries, but the locals turn them in. It’s big $ for the communities that get tags in Nunavut. The last group (Mexicans) hired a local to bring them to a bear. They got busted while refueling their charter in Winnipeg, paid their $80000 bail and skipped town. The people in the small community heard what was going on and notified Conservation.

It depends on who & how it’s tanned….how was it stored or displayed. I’ve got faith in Internationals expertise. Honestly, I don’t really want a mink rugged, or a marten, fisher, wolf, coon, fox, yote. I like em hanging like they are. I think a rug can kinda ruin the animal. Some look really good, but on the other hand…..I’ve seen a lot of ugly ones. If you like rugs….have at er.

Beautiful; and you have a lifetime of hair jig material. That hair is pretty neat, over a foot long in spots. Hollow. Looks like a beauty! Envious, wish we could have one down here The locals say there ain’t no shortage of em. I believe each community is allocated a number of tags to draw with the locals, some might do guided hunts for so decent coin. In Alaska I think it’s the same kinda deal. https://nannut.org/resources/polar-bear-harvestand-handicraft-guidelines/They all follow the Marine Animal Protection Act. But polar bear stuff can’t be sold to non natives in AK unless it’s altered enough to be considered artifact. Like a painted up skull. Manitobas legal expert said that if I’d get charged with exporting a painted wolf skull. It could come down to the court asking a jury “Would you call this a wolf skull or art?”. Anyone new getting into the game of trapping & fur markets….(MTO…lol) it’s imperative to read the regs/laws. There will be a lot of confusion after because some of the laws seem to contradict each other, so have a good CO phone number and from there he’ll get you the other info or numbers to call so you can CYA.

Every time I walk by it I shake my head and laugh. Hanging like this it’s 12’ long, it looks like a yeti…lol. Kid has to walk up there to get to her room. Now I gotta add some stuff to the walls, maybe a paint job first though.
