So how come you didnt find the original lug nut if you seen it go into that hole where the other lugnut was?

I had a redbone that wouldn't keep a collar on for nothing. I don't like to put them on tight as I want them to be able to slip them if they get hung up, but most dogs rarely lose one... this dog on the other hand wouldn't keep one on. So I'd just put the umpteenth collar on her, and a couple days later, she comes back without it. I was fresh out of collars, and I said screw it. Didn't bother to put another on her. Several days go by with her being collarless. Then one day I walk outside and there she is laying on the porch, with a collar on!??!

I asked Pete if he'd put one on her and he said no. At this point I think someone else must have had her and tried to keep her by putting a collar on her, so I go back outside and look and no, it's a collar with MY name and address on it. I'm completely baffled.

A week or two go by and I'm walking in the woods behind the house, and a beam of sun strikes something and makes it shine so I go to investigate. There's a hole in the ground, a den of some sort, and the sun is shining on something metal in the hole. I get down on my knees to peer into the hole, and see the sun is reflecting off a stainless steel buckle of a dog collar. The collar is wedged in the hole in an upright position, where, should a dog stick it's head in the hole, it would go through the collar. It finally dawned on me HOW the dog managed to put her own collar back on, but I still imagine it's a once in a lifetime occurrence.

Years back l was making a castor mound set on the bank of the Chippewa river. Grabbing a handful of mud from one of the few silty spots along the shore, l felt something hard in the lump of muck. Turns out it was the baseplate and pan off what appeared to be an old longspring trap. The pan was half rusted off and no springs or jaws were attached. I looked through the mud for more parts but found none. Sure would like to know how old it was .

For those who are asking why I didn’t find 2 lug nuts,,, I have absolutely no idea where the other went… I dug LONG way down and I just figured it wasn’t worth the hassle anymore because I could buy another one for a couple of bucks….
The lugs ALWAYS stay on the tire until after I have it jacked up just in case the jack falls while jacking it up…
I do break them loose while on the ground then finish removing them when I’m absolutely sure that jack isn’t going to kick out.

One time my Jack Russell was playing with my friends Border Collie. They were having a good ol time but things got real quiet real quick and they were frozen in their tracks. I look over and my Jacks bottom eyelid was stretched out to the max. I go over to them and the keyring on the Collies collar is stuck tight halfway down my dogs eyelid. We all know how hard those things are to pry open- what was the chances of that? That would be near impossible to do even if you tried. I had no other choice but to yank it off and he was fine after that, no damage whatsoever. That darn dog of mine gets into the craziest situations.
