I rattle can a couple dozen traps every year. Then they get the Full Metal
Jacket treatment and we’re good to go. Most of what I use now are snares because setting traps is tough on arthritic hands.

I’ve done speed dip. It works well but I cut it 2 1/2 to 3 quarts gasoline to one quart speed dip. It dried in a couple hours and held up okay. To get it off, I dipped each trap in cheap paint thinner and brushed it off with a stiff paint brush. Took a minute per trap.

Rustoleum and acetone has gotten pricey. But you get what you pay for. From everyone I’ve contacted, the rustoleum-acetone dip gives the best covering in the shortest amount of time.

Never too old to learn

Ratio of 1 to 1 of rusty metal primer and aceton. I dip, let dry a couple of days and repeat. I use them on everything...water traps, yotes, cats, etc. It last several seasons. I use a rattle can just to touch up if a trap gets tore up. Where I trap this is the best way to protect your traps as nothing else works for me.
