No Asian buffets here. This is Finlander country. I tend to pass on any Heifer that bellies up to the all you can eat Lutefisk buffet. I don't want my septic system THAT healthy.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Even the gas can can't make some of those gals look good.

this is what mine looks like

just think tent that hangs between trees

https://hennessyhammock.com/products/jungle-safari-zip

the mosquito netting is a little close to your head so sometimes you year them buzzing but not really any different than a small ground tent
there are tubes that pull over the hammock from the ends and it packs up very easily

I like to get in and zipped in the dark then turn on my light I put the zipper in the same place every time so I know where to grab.

for smaller people they have a non zipper where you pop up right up through the foot area and then it Velcros shut.

That is a slick lookin set up Pete. I saw a review of that one or one just like it on YouTube and I haven't rulled one out.

IDK about what is directly over your head, I have a 550 cord ridge line
but if you can rig a gear loft make it wide and high enough to keep that bug net off of your head. I woke up with a cauliflowered ear one morning and had to get creative.

One hammock / bug net all in one combo advertises a spreader that would accomplish the same thing.

there is a ridge line that holds the netting up high , it is almost a 2 person tent suspended the sides go up several inches before the bug netting starts just the way the hammock is shaped , there is a small gear loft to toss keys , wallet , flashlight , phone in that hangs from the ridge line

the rain fly has it's own ridge line so that it isn't sitting on the netting , on clear nights can just disconnect the fly and sleep under the stars

there is an insulation pad that slips between the two bottom layers and helps hold the shape on the diagonal you want to lay on.

this guy sets his up one handed , apparently he got himself a few too many times with the 330

I will have to check that out. The only reason I mention the gear left suspended from the ridge was that I can move it over my head pushing the bug net out away from my face. The blood suckers reachin through to have at me sucked.

This is my other kit- it is way cheap compared to what you are running. It is a cheap Magellan hammock (Academy's brand) with the tapered No-Cry rain fly. Top to bottom even with an added bug net and sturdier tie out stakes maybe $70 all in.

if we are going way cheap I have a 12.99 Menards special with no fly or netting I bought as an impulse purchase this year
I have slept in it a few nights it works well between 2 posts at a friends barn when I visit there
it is that or a cot

I bought the nice Hennese in 2021 figured for what a few nights in a hotel would cost I could pay for the nice hammock

LMBO @ high octane.

Pete you sound like me when I justify higher end camping or other outdoor gear. Everyone around here wants to go spend a weekend on The Riverwalk in SA. For that kinda price tag I can get some cool stuff or get a dive of a room down on South Padre or Port Aransas and fish like a fool.

yup and my wife is on board unless it is pouring rain , then she is cool with a minimalist hotel

last time we were headed to a family reunion just pouring buckets we ended up at a little 1950s style motel and I think it cost me about 85 a night with the taxes so not too bad for 3 people.
it even had a little kitchenet so no going out for meals saved us , did a little fishing Friday night and had a family fish boil on the Island have to take a boat to get there Saturday and drove back home Sunday.

for the price of a couple drinks at a bar or hotel , can buy a case easy at the grocery.
state parks around here an electric site is 25-30 a night , often can get just a tent site at a county park or state park for 8-15 a night
if it is hot splurge and get an electric site and run a fan in the tent.
my Rigid fan runs on tool batteries and 110 , but it drains a 4ah battery on low in 8 hours so it is easier to run it high on 110.

my wife took over my XXL cot and pad , I should probably buy a second one of those for myself again , I sleep great on that they are just a little large and heavy
we talked about getting a wall tent at some point as our Eureka is getting to be 20 years old and zippers having issues
