Wonderful Wife and I were on our way back from a 4-day vacation in the Ashland/Bayfield area and we stopped at Scheels in Eau Claire. We've been looking at the Smith and Wesson Equalizer 9mm as a pistol that we could BOTH use. The gun manager showed us one and taught her how to rack the slide even with her hand/arm weakness. He also had the red dot sight I have been thinking about right there on the shelf. In all other places I would have had to order one and hope it was right for us.

She has always encouraged us to buy a gun to commemorate key points of our life. Yesterday was Day 83 Cancer-Free and we were on our way home from the first vacation we have been able to take in a year. It has been many years since we have taken a "motel vacation" and the motor home is no longer an option for us and is going to get sold. We really had a blast and even reserved the motel for another 3 nights for our anniversary in September.

To make a potentially long story shorter, she said "Let's get it!" We came home with a S&W Equalizer 9mm with a thumb safety which came 3 magazines and a loader. The guy at Scheels mounted and bore-sighted a Holosun 507K which fit that pistol without any hassles. It also has a "shake awake" feature which activates the red dot when the gun is moved. The slide is surprisingly easy to rack and it is an impressive handgun. We are both going to spend a lot of time getting used to the feel and sighting of it before we head to the range.

Sooooo...that's what we did on our Summer vacation....

We really did. We went to the old places we used to go up on Lake Superior. Brought back some great memories of the past and kindled some great plans for the future. Despite all we/she have been through we realized we have a future full of fun, joy, and each other. Our life is good!

Sounds like a great trip for sure. I have a friend that really likes those holosun optics. The battery life is amazing from what he says. He has nothing negative to say about them at all actually. And this guy has a lot of guns and gear. Last time he came out to shoot his trunk and back set were completely full he couldn't see out the back window and the car was squatting and tires rubbing the finders with each bump. Was a small amount of his stuff he only brought things other people asked him to so they could try it out.

Good to hear you and the Mrs are back on track enjoying life! Keep the traditions going and you will need another gun safe!

save your 507 box , they are a good sight but at a year when you replace the battery they sometimes have issues and need to be sent back. customer service is decent and they replace them
