Is his limit self-imposed? No Thanks, Paul. I really like the kid, but the way he was going he was gonna get himself ran off of here and tarred and feathered, lol. I love his exuberance, though. Hopefully by toning him down a bit, it'll make him put more thoughts into his questions and only ask the ones that matter the most to him. I think if, come trapping season, he puts in the work and starts posting pics of his sets, and his catches, I'll send him a little care package. But I ain't gonna do that unless he shows he's willing to walk the walk, and not just talk the talk.

I think it is better for him to be on here then facetrash or a porn site..... He is Christian, Maybe he need a friend/s,,,, The only time I have ever looked at the archives,,,,,,was to see if I could find old picture,,,,,,(No) I asked questions,,,, ( I still believe beaver can smell underwater because of the air they carry around their nose when they swim underwater)

I use primarily my own brewed stuff these days 99.5% of the time. Over the past 50 years I've had great success from some of the top commercial lure makers products as well, including Dobbins, Lenon's, Caven's, O'Gorman's, Carman's, Hawbaker's, Jameson's, Milligan's, Miranda's, Graham's, etc. By no means a complete list, and to try and list all I'd leave some out for sure. Like others stated, there's no magic in a bottle, just learn as much about your target animals behavior and habits and how to pick the best locations, and you'll do great. I stick with my stuff now because it's what I've become most comfortable with and know what they will do under circumstances on my lines.

Don't get carried away with the lures = it's marketing through showman ship. LOCATION LOCATION is MOST impt......jk

If you’re wanting bait for a dirt hole and on a budget, an egg works as good as anything out there.
If I could only use one lure it would probably be Gusto or Sierra Mist. 2 completely different lures and one technically for cats, but I’ve caught more coyotes on it than cats.
An egg will give off an odor we as humans can’t smell until it gets really really ripe. K9’s can smell it the minute you drop it in the hole. My son and I still use them, but we have ant issues down here for about 9-10 months out of the year so they have become our bait of choice for dirt holes. Even with cages an egg in the back has and will catch everything, except coyotes. We haven’t done that yet, but everything else has been caught especially fox and bobcats.
With pipes as the bait holder we can’t use an egg but we can keep that pipe in brush above the deck and somewhat hidden and away from ants. MTP sells buckets, 2.5gallon, of beaver, bobcat, and muskrat. A good scoop down the pipe will last long enough to catch a K9 before ants clean it out. Plus that smell holds for a long while even when empty.
When you set, tell yourself no matter what you’re not pulling until such and such time (3 weeks, 4 weeks, whatever) you can check, but do not touch and pull anything. Leave it be. I’ve caught a coyote on a set that was a pipe set three days before pulling. My son missed a set and even though he drove by that particular spot every day he’d thought he’d pulled it. On days 36 (according to notes) he was driving by and saw a coyote bouncing ahead. No bait or lure had been added. No catch had been made prior to that, but that coyote found that set he thought he’d pulled 36 days after he’d set it. If you set on sign, leave sets alone.
There is no magic bait, lure, set, location, etc…a K9 is gonna do what a K9 does. We don’t have “high” numbers of coyotes so we have to wait for them to come around.
Good luck.
