Was recently at the Milwaukee zoo. In the primate building, they have an interactive display where you can test your grip strength compared to primates. You squeeze a handle and lights go up based on your strength. After watching several “men” give it a go and only light up a third of the lights, it was my turn and I lit it all the way to the top. I’m going to credit my grip strength to setting traps, and nothing else, lol. Thank God I’m a country boy.

I’ve been sayin yes sir all day at work, I’ve been sayin yes ma’am at home…

Last week at the county fair, they had a game where you had to hold on to a 2" diameter bar for 100 seconds. The bar was mounted on bearings and spun, though, so it was all a game of finger strength. I gave it a go. and let let go with 48 seconds. Two highshool aged boys watched me do it and laughed when I let go, so I hung around to see how long they lasted. One fell off at 13 seconds to go, the other let go at 20 seconds. Made me smile.

There is a trick to that game. The game is mostly a scam , but there is one way to win.

I once hung three pairs of 16" tall 18'6" long lvl's by myself with no machinery. 10' to the top of the wall. They weigh about 250 lbs a piece. I'm 160lbs. Sometimes the trick to feats of strength is to use your head, and only lift half the load at a time.
