Looking for heating options for a small room so I can dress brain tan hides in the winter. This will be in the house basement. Its normally 55-60 degrees down there, ideally I am looking for 72-78 degrees for the softening process (working the hide until it is dry).
Besides electric (no 220 down there right now), any other options?
Thanks.

A wall mount or portable propane heater might be an option, I’ve also used the 120v Eden pure heaters. Eric

My old hockey coach ...showed me some compact heaters that plug right into the 110 outlets...all self contained.

Had 2 in his garage...worked pretty slick

I think propane would add to much moisture to the room for your purposes. Unless the heater is vented.

The radiant heaters in the link have a 120v option and can be run by thermostat. There is a size calculator on the site. They work really well and don’t add any moisture to the room.

small room can be heated by a milk house heater type electric

they don't cost much but the eclectic bill might reflect it

one can hear a bed room from 55-60 to the 70s easy enough , and you can put a thermostat on them , they have some but it is hard to adjust to a set temp

my wife uses one in her craft room far from the wood stove when it gets extra cold

Thanks guys, definitely looking into radiant heaters.

GCP, not too worried about operating costs, as this will be used only when I am dressing hides in the winter.

You know its Spring when you see them guys with pants down around their ankles and hats on cross threaded dragging their space heaters to the Pawn shop.

You don't need to heat the room, you need to heat the hide while you work it. An electric heater with a fan should work nicely to help evaporate mositure from the hide as you work it. At that room temperature you should already be warm enough from the activity of working a hide. Propane strikes me as a bad idea also due to the moisture addition.

Yes, the heat is to get the hide to dry out in a timely manner, not for my comfort. Curious if a heater with a fan would be better than radiant heat.
I have tried dressing a few outdoors when its in the mid 60's, and they took a lot longer to dry out. If it was my choice, I'd like to dress hides at about 45 degrees. No sweat for me then.

Currently I am cable softening, not frame, if that matters at all.
