I’ve watched the Ranch Fairy and I think he must have lost a huge buck at one point in his life with the “normal” set ups and now wants a heavier setup that will “punch through” everything no matter the shot. Don’t believe me, check out some of his followers posts, lol. They’ll launch that log and not think twice about where it goes because they believe heavier is better.

He's talked about it a few times. Killed tons of hogs with a gun then weth to a bow was getting a lot of losses and long tracking jobs. Got sick of it so decided to go a different route , started testing a bunch of stuff found the whole ashbey deal and it's obviously working for him so... The. You have the guys from grizzly stick and what they talk about how they used to achery hunt moose . I personally don't see much of a problem with it. I mean honestly it's not different then how people say you shouldn't use a .223 when you have a .308- 30-06.

Idk guess I look at guns like most people look at achery and archery how most look at guns laugh

I have nothing against him or his followers. I just find it comical to read their testimonies about just launching arrows. Sorta like saying all I have to do is upgrade from a .308 to a .338 and I can just shoot the deer anywhere.
I have noticed he police’s his comments better now, lol.

I thought of going that route, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

I mean ..have you talk to a large majority of hunters ? Somthing something big gun big middle somthing something knock down powder laugh

And honestly when you think about it, and they have openly said it ..this stuff isn't really new... Well the way their doing it is but the ideas aren't. Like alot of trad guys are shooting 600-700 gr wood arrows right off the bat.

So arguably you could say high FOC was never broken ...

I'll also say I think alot of folk tend to get tune off of something when you actually go and give it technical name or something along with actually giving in depth data on it. Odd thing but see it all the time in the ouddor / gun community

Actually was chatting with one guy , said he used to kill deer left and right with some crazy pass thoughts and stuff with his old aluminum arrows. Went to the newer still could figure out why he wasn't getting the same . Stuff was lighter faster BETTER!
Sad he pulled this stuff out of retirement tried it, same old results. Said he scared really looking into it...he was flinging like a 680 gr set up off the bat. So on and so forth.

Then found out about guys who shoot deer in flooded timber or doing urban control stuff they can afford that deer to go far at all and most of them use these heavy set ups and ... different.. shot placement
And there not having deer go any distance.

Really for me it just boils down to : I wanna do x and get y result. Who's doing that constantly with proof? And data to back it up. Once I find it I just start working with it.

How many hundred years of proof you need? People have been using heavy slow cut on contact a very long time with great success. Lighter faster= easier to shoot further more accurately because of reduced drop. Also modern compounds are easier to shoot.

Heavy and slow works as well today as it did 300 years ago. And they were very accurate at longer ranges.

I think you found a perfect thing for you. There is no end of things to play with, tweak , and customize. I think you are going to have a ball with it. I always wanted to start shooting a recurve but never took the time to learn how to shoot them well and never have. Going to love watching and reading your journey.
