Hey, Paul. Regarding your "Let's try something with politics" thread, I am wondering… When you said “try something” and "Let's see how it goes...." it might have implied a trial period for a new procedure. Is there an end to the trial? Are you considering ever changing it back? I am hoping that is the case and that we go back to what we had before. If someone gets totally out of control in some way, they could get a vacation. I really miss the political conversations on here, especially the back and forth among all of our friends here. I don’t go to the other thread to see links to articles. I have always read the threads on Trapper Talk and enjoyed the responses along with the news. I realize that we as a group are largely hunters, anglers, trappers and second amendment supporters who are conservative, patriotic constitutionalists. I wish I could hear from them again here. I miss the people and conversations we lost.

Not my call and honestly, I did not witness the history of who or what started the political links forum idea, but I sure do miss those conversations on Trapper Talk. I hope we can return to “normal.”

I wish the powers that be here would define "politics". Either I'm misinformed as to what is construed as politics, or this rule is loosely enforced, and often ignored for certain members.

Its never made any sense to me that almost every other topic can be debated here, but we're not allowed to talk about how our country is governed. The excuse that political threads are prohibited because they often result in name calling is poor at best, as any opinionated topic can have the same outcome, whether on this forum or in real life. See ford vs chevy, duke vs mb, your dad vs my dad, etc.

We've tried it many times over the years, but always with the same outcome. Folks cannot remain civil when someone has a different viewpoint in this area than themselves. There's too much passion for their beliefs for folks to control. Respect goes out the window, and the result is just plain disgusting.

I think we should be able to talk about it all. I dont know how you fly the flag in one hand, and hold your hand over your mouth with the other.

Meanwhile everyone is worried about policing a 13 yr old and shutting him down…..

I think it's a good policy to discuss politics when it comes to handicapping your rights for such things as firearms, sportsman rights, wolves, etc. It should remain that way as it is now.

I'm always in awe of people who will slap the face of someone owning a forum, just because they cannot write about something that rules state and has been proven that it won't work to satisfaction for keeping it.

If you miss it find another forum to do your damage on, it won't be missed here, I for one enjoy not even being curious about looking in the firestorm it always brings here !!

What Grit! I think people should be able to talk about topics pertinent to their lives. Sorry thats too rough for you. I like hearing peoples opinions. All of them

I don't see anyone here slapping the site's owner in the face. That's a pretty far fetched description. In my response I question how this site defines politics? Because loosely, it is defined as how one governs their country. This encompasses a lot of topics. A lot of important topics. Some of which are still discussed here regularly. Because there's no clear definition it makes it difficult to know what is acceptable and what isn't.

As I said earlier, you can take any topic and turn it into a heated debate. Why is it okay to get into a name calling match when arguing ford versus chevy, but not when it comes to whether it's okay for my tax dollars (in another life made from trapping) to be used against my own beliefs.

There's a diverse group of members on here and their perspective on political topics has been valuable in my own decision making.

We could enjoy chin wagging with fellow trappers if we didn't have people on here voting for the party that will end trapping .

Not the case though , is what it is .....hard to cull them out I suppose .

Several people are more interested in rocking the boat then righting the ship is the biggest problem no real resolution will be reached with the game players they are only interested if blowing things up that’s their main goal.

There are a few whose only goal seems to be to get threads they don't like, removed. Then there are some who just can't ignore said few.
