I only had it once but I would love it again
Caribou I have eating favorites and hunting favorites venison back straps in butter and mushrooms is really good eating Pheasant is a blast to hunt with a long season hunt the middle of the day shoot the bull while your hunting , keep walking around , no sitting and getting cold. I like hunting deer also but get so few days of the year to do it , I feel pressure to fill the freezer or get the kids in the party a deer. pheasant is just relaxing. this last year I got two deer on the Sunday of opening weekend , one of the kids I was mentoring my cousins kid that I tried so hard to get him on a deer Saturday went home Sunday morning because his grandma died on Saturday. so there was no pressure to get him a deer , I had a big road kill in the freezer and a downer cow so no pressure to fill the freezer. I went and sat on a log and the first deer happened , I was taking a break from butchering the first one mid day to go check on my son and the second one happened walking out , just ran right at me so I had to shoot it. my brother shot one in the morning also so by end of the day I had 3 cut up before sundown.

I imagine robin breast would be good. My granddaughter and I killed a bunch of starlings last fall and feasted on them tasted very similar to dove which is about my favorite game bird to eat.
I guess robin would be similar.
Eh...wot?

I guess robin would be similar. Small, dark meat breast, but really tasty !!!!

Dall's sheep.
Kind of funny. I just Googled Dall's sheep. Under the heading; "Taste", it says; "The meat is edible although it will have a gamey taste". That is the farthest from the truth you can get, it is generally regarded as the least gamey wild game there is.
Reading further in the same paragraph it says; "At Texas Hunt Lodge you can hunt Texas Dall sheep", it's no wonder they taste like crap. I can hardly believe that folks pay to hunt what are essentially barnyard goats/sheep.

I see a lot of folks have mentioned caribou. I could almost concur with that if I hadn't had to eat one once that was rutty. Rutty bull caribou are just about inedible, not just gamey. Caribou is definitely one of the best however.

Didn’t have to pay for it. Ranch had 2 rams in a heard that had black feet. They had been trying to kill them for months with no success. Got the call. Buddy and I found them and both rams jumped up on a bolder at 150 yards. One of the funnest hunts I’ve ever been on. Still can’t figure how the couldn’t get them killed but I was glad to help.

Pete you have most of Sept, Oct and Nov and Dec to hunt deer. That's a lot of days to put venison In the freezer.
