this may not come as a shock but I don't think I did anything crazy as a kid.
I mean I ran around with a red fiberglass bow about everywhere I went till I upgraded to a compound with fiberglass and wood limbs
shot squirrels and rabbits , grill them outside because my mother told me not to use the oven while she was gone.
shot some arrows strait up in the air might have been one of the dumber things we did
used to hit crab apples at each other with the tennis rackets purchased at garage sales for a quarter
build fires
build forts
climb trees
had a small garden where I grew mostly green beans
bought my first truck at 15 , which might explain why I didn't have much time to get in trouble had been working since 12
used to ride my bike to the hardware store when I was 14 and buy 30-06 rounds for my rifle , bought the store out 2 boxes at a time every time I got paid, the new price was almost double at 11.50 when they restocked , I wish I wouldn't have quit buying them and just kept getting 2 boxes a pay check.
hauled home broken radios , lawn mowers , and other curb finds fixed a bunch of them.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

We used to climb around underneath the bridge on the Mississippi River on the girders which was about 100 feet above the river catching pigeons with landing nets. We would then sell them to a local dog trainer. If you ever fell from the girders, it would be certain death as it was shallow with sharp granite rocks sticking out of the water.
It's not always about catching fish. That's what people who don't catch fish usually say.

In high school we use to do what we called ditch skiing. When it snowed, which wasn't that often here, we'd take a water ski rope and tie it to a vehicle then get a pair of snow skis. The roads would usually melt off in a day or two but the snow in the ditchs would last much longer. We usually did this late at night after we had medicated with some antifreeze to stay warm. The culverts were dangerous and u better remember where they were. We'd ski for miles and miles doing this. Mail boxes made for some excitement also

In 1997, Albania's government collapsed and a rebellion ensued. I was part of the first unit to start securing and evacuating the embassies. After two weeks, my unit was replaced by the Army. We stayed on ship and did gator squares as a contingency force. We did this for 77 days. On day 70, a USO tour came to our ship. Part of the tour was Sonny Bono. One of my team, Code name Skillet, said watch this. We waited and watched as Skillet waited almost 4 hours in line to meet Sonny Bono. When Skillet extended his hand to shake, Skillet started talking, Sonny went complete still with a look of shock and complete dumbfound, Skillet walked off smiling. It was funny to see Sonny stand there in bewilderment for a few minutes before regaining composure and continued his meet and greet. When Skillet returned we were all dying to know what he said. He looked right at us and extended his hand and said "Sir, I just waited in line for 4 hours to shake the mans hand who felt up Cher, Thank you". We all laughed and laughed. That was 1997, we still laugh about it to this day.

The Amish do this all the time behind their horse buggies.

Could easily write a book on my early teen adventures. One I still chuckle about involved my local gang of hoodlums and I and a large cave by a local lake. The cave was carved out of a limestone cliff, was big enough to back trucks full of potato's into for storage from a large commercial farming operation. Our imaginations ran wild with what else could be hiding in it's dark recesses. The doors were heavy wood planks and were always locked. Crafty boys that we were, we found a large metal ventilation shaft Hidden in the weeds on the top of the cliff. With flashlights in hand 5 of us bravely slid down a rope l had procured into the dark recesses below. After exploring and finding nothing more than bags of potato's we proceeded to climb back up the rope. This was going well until Ralph, who was overweight discovered he couldn't climb the rope. Panic ensued !! Our little expedition, which also included 2 bottles of beer Mike brought for everybody to taste, might get discovered by our parents if we didn't get Ralph out. So I slid back down, tied the rope to Ralph and pushed him up while the other three pulled from above. The extraction worked , I got out and we went on to another adventure.

Built a tree house using a pretty spool of yellow rope. It was tough to cur so we cut it with a hatchet. Turns out it was primer cord. Lots of folks kept explosives for beaver dams and stumps. Yes we would also borrow a few thermex sticks sometimes for our own purposes. Lol.
When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.

I didn't do a lot nasty things... BUT I did instigate a lot of crazy things. I was smart enough to know if I got caught I would my butt beat at school and then again when I got home. I just had enough dumb friends that listened to me and not smart enough to consider the consequences. And I was always innocent.
