Ended up getting a young bull moose that trip.
It's been torture seeing all the big bulls from the chopper the past couple days. Day 3 of the annual char tagging campaign today. Lots of animals spotted. Moose caribou musk ox wolves bears. Highlight of my work year. Seen 4 absolute monster bulls so far. Probably 40 moose sightings Altogether We should put in for a Bell River Field trip again. This time we actually have a fair idea where to go. Go see 300 moose and 75 wolves.

season opens at midnight. When me and Fiona were just starting our family I would head out right after midnight with a pocket full of my kids candy and set 7-8 traps. Money was tighter back then and fur trapping has helped us out a lot over the years in our finances. Many a Christmas was paid for with fur. My plan for saturday/sunday is to set 84 traps. Marten and wolverine to get started.

Good morning all. Its November 5th and i dont have a single fur yet. I Must be getting old. Me and my partner had plans to get started this past weekend but i got sick from Friday evening until Monday morning. Healed up just in time for work. I was unsure when i would get out again as my work schedule is busy with last minute FALL stuff. Luckily the schedule has opened up and I have a free weekend coming up so the plan is to take off Saturday morning with 106 traps and the tent. Full speed ahead. Once i get a bunch of gear out of the warehouse and have some room then me and my boy will make a pile of 1/16 snares and set up for the foxes around town until the lynx are priming up then we'll set for them too. He's pretty excited and is constantly watching for tracks on every truck ride we have taken lately. Fox is what i first had success with at a young age but when the prices dropped i realized i didnt like skinning fox very much. I still think a well handled fox is one of the nicest looking pelts and i love the variety in colors. Its going to be a fun busy season.

Long push pulling double sleds and setting as we break trail Me. Sonny taking a bid dark marten out of the trap. Freshly caught Nice pull for a short sit I wasn't going to risk green belly so as tired as I was when I got home i still made a fire and got the skinning knives dirty

Ill check the neck markings later. usually if theyre anything special id notice but didnt see much on this one. No good camera for youtube anymore and im not interested in wasting much daylight recording anything. Havent heard of anyone trapping bombardier.
