There an english redtick pup for sale on trapshed. I had a bluetick english dog for a while named ol joe. Quite the dog. Pain in my butt but a coon treeing fool. I could likely force it on her but I gotta live with her. Probably be easier to live with a sow grizzly if I got that dog. Not much of a fur market would sure be fun to follow a dog around at night again.

You just tell her Angela said every home needs a coonhound.
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

What's Waylon going to think when u and the new dog go hunting without him Just think about it though. Wake up early on a crisp late fall morning with a heavy frost and drink some hot, strong coffee before climbing in the truck with Ol Waylon and going to scare up a limit of pheasants. Come home and eat a nice hot dinner around noon or so, and then take a long nap in the afternoon, eat some supper, and go chase coons half the night with Ol Willie. Now, that's living!

Me and Waylon are going dove hunting Sept 1st. Lori is pretty serious about me not getting another dog. Son tried to bring me a walker pup awhile back and she flat layed down the law.

Thanks for pointing out another reason I'm luckey to have my wife. I can honestly say in 28 years 20 married I can't remember my wife ever trying to tell me no on anything gun, animals, well anything except another woman and I expect any and all ladies would feel the same on that last one and honestly what man would want that much extend hassle. My wife typically tells me to get anything in considering actually. Last year it was an older tc .36cal or .45cal muzzle loader at a big shoot I was eye balling but I thought they were to high and didn't buy either one even though she was telling me to buy one or both.

I had 3 hounds when we got married. had a mt cur. couple other dogs. I have friends with hounds when the urge is upon me.
Me son and stepson were out one night with a bluetick walker cross stepson had been gifted. Had my Bo dog too. Old broke dog, little slow, good pup trainer. We dumped out in section few miles from here. Bo got one treed in the middle of that section. Could hear that pup getting excited. Got to the tree and pup was treeing some too so we were encouraging him. Fog had come in. We shot the coon out and the old dog and pup both chewing on it so petted pup up some more. Wife waited in the pickup while we went to the tree. Like I said fog. We came out of the section 3/4 miles south and 1/2 mile east of the pickup. Got dogs on a lead, dead coon, rifle, ground was muddy. Feet weighed 80-90 pounds each felt like. I could see a yard light and driveway I recognized so knew then where the pick up was. We walked the 3/4 miles north to the intersection and shined our lights at my wife so she would come pick us up. Oh no. She sat there. When we got to the truck she said she was scared cause she didnt know who was shining those lights.
She has gone to a few trees with me but wandering around at night makes her nervous.
When I would be gone working those boys kept the dogs hunted and cared for. Grown now though. Honestly now I dont think I want to go 2-3-4 nights a week. Be best for a dog with potential to go to someone that would hunt more often.

Be best for a dog with potential to go to someone that would hunt more often. Lack of time to run and work them is exactly why I don't have a brace of beagles, pair of English setters or German Short hair pointers, and.horeses and or.mules. I would.like to get I to blood tracking dogs also. But unless I change jobs I don't see any of that happening at least for almost 12 years. Retirement date will be July 1st 2036 . Last day worked should be the end of 3rd.week of May that year. At.57 I should hopefully be young enough to get into anything and have the time and money.

I’m gonna say this once; get pet insurance. Insurance is a racket but the cost of good vet med is costly. Really please think about it if you’re going to get another dog Didn’t know that there was such a thing, but I reckon you can insure about anything. I’ve had hunting dogs for 47 years. Anywhere from only one to as many as seven. I have seven now. I’ve been pretty attached to several of them, but I never lost sight of the fact that they’re dogs. They aren’t folks. I’m not spending ridiculous amounts of money on their purchase, vet bills, stupidly expensive dog food, or anything else. When I hear of folks spending thousands of dollars on some dog that gets clipped by a car sure makes me shake my head. They make them everyday.

Claycreech I have had kennels full at times nearly 20. Some are just dogs some are family. Now I have spent more than I think reasonably on some of them. And likely will again. But I do have limits to what I will spend girls at work has spent 9 k on a 9 year old dog get cancer treatment. I wouldn’t do that. But I did spend 1500 geting cancer tumors cut out of my 8 year old German shepherd a year ago. And once 2500 on a setter pup that got mauled by the neighbors dog. My pup ended up 3 legged. BUT she lived a long happy life. Dumbest money I ever spent was on my daughter's favorite cat. It had been missing 3 days and she was outside when it showed back up. It had broken Jaw and leg and was a mess. Had she not been outside I would have shot it but she was about 6 or 7 and my little girl so it went to the vet. That was 500 on a darn cat but it was my little girls.
I have also traded a year old 4x4 4 wheeler for a single English setters male. He sure was fun to win trials with and made great pups with a few of my females. Stud fees were also nice.. you could say he paid for himself!! Was a 4x field champ and close to his 5th when I was in my bad wreck and ended up selling off all my dogs .
I guess expensive is different for everyone and relative to what that dog brings to the table. I will tell you good dog food is much more expensive but it's also much better for your dog than corn based food. Much smaller and less turds, better coat, just all round healthier dogs. Very similar to someone that r Eats fast food soft drinks and junk food vs someone that Eat healthy. Just better physically condition and better health is the result.

It sure was nice when you could by antibiotics, vaccines, and wormer at the feed store. I'm with you Clay. I don't like doing my own euthanasia but Vet cost is stupid high.
