Ketchup, mucho horseradish, and a dab or sweetener. If in doubt too much horseradish is better than too little.

Pete it's a good thing you are 7 ft tall or I'd slap ya for supporting John Carrie's wife. Also I guess I tend to think you're one of the better posters from the frozen north but for the love of God pee on Heinz

I prefer chili sauce to ketchup but since I only use it mainly to make cocktail sauce I don't always keep it in stock in the pantry.

Another that I liked was heinz hot ketchup but that one has been long discontinued.

You have to avoid a lot of stuff...Kraft-Heinz has a lot of brands Oscar-meyer, miracle whip, taco bell, capr-sun, country time, mio, jet puffed marshmallows, velveeta, maxwell house, columbia coffee, gevalia, ihop, kool-aid, lunchables, philidelphia cream cheese, mac n'cheese, OreIda, bagel bites, cool whip. Probably a few more, thats just off the top of my head.

Heinz also comes sugar free . I get that all the time. In many things nowadays, it's not hard to get them sugar free, including the poison high fructose corn syrup .

I prefer tartar sauce to cocktail sauce.

Tarter sauce is for white fish I thought. Better for lobster / crab / crawfish, and tarter sauce for fried shrimp or oysters. Heinz stays on the store shelf.

If I'm doin wrong I will just keep on keeping on LOL

Hoss, tell me what brand katsup you like, and I'll look for it ! As long as It's sugar free ! It just dawned on me that you don't like Heinz...I have no clue about what that brand is . It doesn't matter to me what brand , as long as I can find it sugar free.

I like tartar sauce too.

Tartar sauce IMHO is for deep fried fish , any kind of white flesh fish.
Cocktail sauce is for shrimp , just all I ever use it on.

There is a restaurant in our area that serves blackened walleye. It has a cajun seasoning to it, no breading. I like to add a squirt of lemon and a little tartar on the side. Nothing like it.

I wish I knew but having never shopped for sugar free ketchup I'd have to use google I guess. As far as other brands I use Hunts is great. Their canned pasta sauces are some of the best I ever had and cheap too!

I don't actually eat Ketchup hardly ever any more

if I do for cocktail sauce it is G Hughes sugar free now , which I am not going to claim tastes as good as the real thing but if I ate the real thing I would need to shoot up the insulin so I don't.

I can see your point and thanks for the G Hughes brand maybe Sharron can take a look at it.

Most sugar free stuff tastes terrible and if it doesn't it lays waste to my digestive tract (no sugar added ice cream is the worst offender I've yet found)

Hoss, I've found that the sugar free taste good without the sugar. To me, it has all the right taste in any katsup that I've liked. I tried the sugar katsup at one point, after using sugar free for a long time, and didn't like the obvious spike of sugar in it.

Sugar free allows you to taste all the tomato, seasonings goodness much better. I think lots of things can be added also for a more spicy zest, too. Thats just me. I like sugar free in most things, except ice cream. I never drink pop of any kind, so that's not an issue for me.

Nothing but pure nice ice cream ! Sugar and all ! wink

Sugar free ketchup, couple spoonfuls of horseradish and a dash of lemon juice makes a good cocktail sauce, you could use soy sauce instead of lemon if you prefer....

Tartar, imo, has but one place a McDonald's style filet-o-fish sandwich.

Give me a good come back sauce or remoulade for a proper catfish/oyster/shrimp po'boy.

Ours is simply ketchup, horseradish to taste and a big squeeze of lemon. A bit more northern!

Same, plus a shot of Worcestershire sauce. Also excellent on a Burger!
