I just wait until an old customer is on his way here and take them out of town and dispatch them, and give them to him whole. Cage trap them to keep them out of my grapes and garden. Can't dispatch at home, and sure hate to just toss them, so try to give them to someone that wants them.

Here, males prime and put up... $2-$6 if you can find a buyer. Most buyers are done taking chances on them. Auction can be a better bet for a sale. More crafters and buyers together, sometimes developes market with competition. Better make sure they are fully prime also

Coons are basically trash, since you can make much more money an hour working a crap job like fast food, than you can catching, skinning, fleshing and putting up a coon. It's sad. Of course that argument only holds if you can stand doing a "crap job" for the coin OR having the choice to enjoy the whole experience of trapping and seeing what your fur does against others. I plan to hit some in part of the rural area that I hang out in because they need to get thinned besides getting sandwiched on the highways. There's also more value than just the fur; cleaned up, intact (even ones with lead defects) sell on-line and cleaned up pecker bones are super easy to do. Besides, a BBQ'd back quarter of younger ones are pretty tasty as long a person does them right.
"And God said, Let us make man in our image and let them have dominion and all the creatures that move along the ground". Genesis 1:26

Keith There's more to trapping than just the money, for me at least. I'd rather pay to trap raccoons than to work fast food.

Marty I still trap them on the side along with my coyote line. They keep the catch rate up and I can always sell them for something. Easy to skin and when I’m trapping December land line the coon are generally about in the best shape and most run on the bigger size too. Last year while pursuing cats I had to trap coon nearby to keep them out of cat sets. Even green skinned a stack of coon at $6 avg was a nice supplement to the fur check. Most of my landowners want some coon control too. I don’t carcass anything and never could find a market around here for them. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I had a meat market but dried up. Old man from Topeka came here and bought all of them. 3 bucks a head then resold them. Was convenient for me and we both made a little money. He died. I have asked around at work etc. Around here people often act like you offended them for bringing it up. Young people here just dont eat them or not willing to buy them.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Same as a half coon !!! Less than nothing !!! You get anywhere near a coon this season and it is actually going to cost you money !!!
