When I pee the bed at night, I hope not to sleep in a puddle,,,,,,This is why God made king sized beds.....

Rubber sheets are more like a "Holding Pond" aren't they?

If you're covering something stored inside they would probably work okay.

Not waterproof but maybe less likly to attract moisture like a tarp will if used for a shelter, depends on the use.

I've always wanted to but never got around to it.
Done right i think they are pretty light weight and fairly waterproof.
I think treated in wax they would be pretty flammable though.
I like to camp / sleep near an open fire so that makes me a little nervous.

If treated like an oilskin.....combination of linseed oil and wax.......it might work. Probably not durable like a treated canvas or cotton duck, but might work short term.
