We are only one of the three countries in the world that dont use it. What do you think about switching to it?

This is a hard topic for me.
Yes, I like the metric system; cause I suck at math and it makes figuring easier.

On the other hand, I think there may be something sacred about our system, that I don't want to see lost.

And Warrior's right. Nearly every chemical I buy for applications, I have to convert from grams/milliters to ounces. Confuses everything.

I use it all the time and I work with people in other countries that do use it
but just like here if you tell some one they are looking for a 7 inch wide by 1 3/4 inch tall black box with lights on the front , or a 17.8cm wide box 4.5cm tall they still won't have any clue what you are talking about.

the thing is anyone who can work multiple number systems can do all of them
although I guess there is a simplicity to base 10

most of my recipes are in grams

people who put measurements to use regular know what a 13mm wrench looks like at a glance or a glance at the bolt and the say I bet that is a 13 and grab the 13 from the tool box

people who don't measure stuff often , just see a thing with no size definition in any measurement.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Well, its BS that we can buy American brand equipment (John Deere); and have to use metric to work on them Ticks me off.
That is why I like Truax Equipment. American made 100%, and everything on them is standard!

Yep. Every piece is going that way. I use more metric sockets than standard on 90% of the equipment I use. And they are all John Deere; except my seed drill which is standard.

We should have switched over but too many stuck in a rut types to change. It's easier.

our system works just fine. I have no interest in trying to to remember how many centimeters equal one foot.

I remember being drilled by me teachers in the 70s that we needed to learn metric because "the US will be adopting it by 2000". Here we are in 2024 and that didn't happen yet.
