Good luck to everyone I can hardly wait to get my hunters into their stands. Going to be a late night and a very busy skinner tonight!

Thanks for the encouragement and the tips guys. I'll look into some more protein based bait and do have a couple different scents I had planned to deploy to change things up. Had a decent bear hit the bait last night, and one came through just a few minutes after what would be opening of shooting light.

I agree 100%. Why even risk trying to get down with a bear there after shooting hours and chase him off. He won't be back.

A little different variety of bait and some caramel/apple scent spray was enough to draw this one out during daylight today. Less than 36 hours...

My nephew got a nice sow tonight about a half mile north of my house. His first MN bear! I’d say she went 167+ conservatively based on how she felt on the 80 yard drag and lift into the truck! A perfect eater in my book! Happy trapping! ScottW

Been involved in a couple hundred bear kills and those taken late , end of legal time ......

Most bear hunters hunt in thick cover (baiting).
Early season with thick leaf cover is often 10 minutes time to get out and try another day.
Heavy cloud cover can knock that back even a few more minutes.

Hope that makes sense and hunters will adhere to that advice.

A couple hundred . your famous !

Try adding more nuts and corn when acorns fall.
