I have a tonneau cover and my catches go in a low flat box in bed under the tonneau and out of site. I park and walk into set locations on the 9 to 10 farms I trap, most of those are well off the road, and while my truck is parked and locked on the side of road at those farms nobody can see what’s in back and it’s all locked up. It’s not so much to avoid offending as it is for security for me. Don’t want anything tempting for some low life to take if it was in plain site to take from bed of my truck. But under the tonneau they at least can’t see the catches or equipment I have back there. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

WI is also online or phone registration so most of the time the deer hang behind the house one night and are cut up , deboned , bagged and in a cooler most of the time now before we head home from deer camp.
but I have also totally skinned and quartered a buck on my front lawn. it was a road kill I have hung deer in my front yard in town we have an ordinance that for human consumption you may hang any food animal in your yard 48 hours.

I've never hid an animal I've killed while hunting or trapping, not when transporting it in my truck.
I do hide catches when walking back to the truck when it's parked along a public road and a vehicle comes along. I usually drop the fox or foxes I'm carrying and keep walking until they pass then go back for them. One hot spot was along a road that got a good amount of traffic. We started taking a large garbage bag to put dispatched foxes in to hide them on the hundred yard walk back to the truck. I'd rather have people curious about what's in the bag than for them to know I'm killing fox back there. That just opens the door to possible trouble.
I've also hid deer that were killed early in the day. Killed them, field-dressed them and drug them out to the truck. Then covered them over with leaves and went back to hunting. Don't need any dirt bags stealing my meat.
Once they are in the truck and I'm driving they don't get hid. I don't usually go to public places while driving home from hunting or trapping but I have stopped for gas quite a few times with a half-dozen fox or a deer in the bed. Yup ..I do the same ...when I see a car coming...drop it ...then wait till it clear...to put it in the truck

About fifteen years ago I pulled into a gas station one evening in the small town closest to my camp. There was a guy at a pump moving frozen coyote carcasses around in the bed of his truck so he could get at his gas cans to fill them up. He had his young son with him.
It made me smile and when he glanced my way I was standing there grinning at them like some sort of idiot. He noticed the bucketful of pre-cut wood stakes sticking above the bed of my truck and recognized that I was also a trapper.
We struck up a conversation and stood there talking so long that the owner of the grocery store/gas station came out to see if everything was alright.
He became one of my best friends and we have had many adventures since then.
It's good we weren't hiding anything or that never would've happened.
Eh...wot?

Seeing critters? Wait until you’re in a crowded convenience store and somebody walks up and asks, “How many dead critters you got in the back of your truck this morning?” lol That turns a few heads and has people looking in the truck that probably wouldn’t have paid any attention.

if you have catches or chainsaws in your truck bed when you stop to gas up , it can easily lead to a 15-20 minute truck bed leaning conversation at the station.

I couldn't care less about people upset over seeing dead animals. Hiding them won't change their disney propaganda poisoned minds.

I don't cover anything, nor do I advertise it. If people do see it I find that they are more curious than anything and usually want to take a closer look. Most people never see furbearers up close.

Do not hide or cover catches or kills normally from trap line parking to house, one time did stop someplace spent 20 minutes explain to folks about trapping and how it has changed here in WA with just being able to use Cage traps and requirements of daily checks.
