Prior to my dad's death we were told his funeral was all paid for by him; it wouldn't cost us kids a penny. This was to include a viewing, casket, and burial. Totally different story when we met with the funeral home when he died. They charged $800 to take his body from the nursing home to the funeral home which was about 8 total blocks. They said someone had to view his body to acknowledge it was him. That viewing was just of his face $300. The service was in the funeral home, $1200. We decided on cremation with no viewing. A one day ad in the local obituary was $300. There were some other charges. In the end we had to come up with another $2700. My advice is to never pre-pay for your funeral.

My wife and I will be cremated. Ashes will be scattered into a lake or river.

If someone tears down the American flag and puts another flag in its place, that person should get a free, mandatory one way trip to that country.

If it was up to me you could just lower me off the boat and let the crabs and critters dine, lord knows I took enough of them over the years, figured it would be good turnabout, but apparently thats illegal...

So they'll have to be satisfied with my ashes...

Every State is different Arkansas will not do anything for you it is up to the county. Some have funding some don't.
DON'T count on donation only your family may end up holding the bag.

I'm the Coroner in the 2nd largest county in Arkansas. So I've been dealing with this since 1995.
Alot of the small family owned funeral home will help I believe the lowest cremation around here is 800.+ too as much as 4,000. So you need to shop around!
