A question for current or former artillery guys, how many guns in a battery? In the old towed days, it was six, with SPs, it maybe less, I don't know.
It doesn't really matter because, unless the UK government is doing a deep fake and have a bunch more stashed away and with trained crews, the Royal Artillery is down to 14 SP platforms so not even a battalion worth of big guns. The NATO brain trust was so confident that both their proxy hot conventional war and their economic sanctions were going to bring the Rus to their knees that they gladly jumped in with both feet in trying to use the Ukies to defeat the "red horde" and roll bad, mad Vlad out of power.
All the elite college (most don't have geography departments anymore) graduates who run the NATO countries seemed to have forgotten some basics, such as Russia being the largest land area country (2x Canada that is in 2nd place) in the world with lots of resources AND that the Russians didn't de-industrialize and still placed an emphasis on applied science and engineering. So, while the NATO leaders embraced DEI and Drag Queens, the Russians ramped up their war waging capabilities in 2022 when the Donbas War went hot.
A sad state of affairs but what else should a person expect from over indulged arrogant wind bags and cheaters. Maybe we'll learn something and wake up before its too late. Maybe not...

You know the US Army the has gone woke and can't meet recruitment. Warrior- I think I've told this story before but my solider kid went from one of the fast and ready, well known Army divisions to a lesser paced one more on the periphery of the the U.S. The official size of his platoon is supposed to be in the low 30s given their MOS but since his arrival as a new, lower rank NCO in the summer of 2022, his platoon has generally had just shy of 20 people, about equally split between NCOs (of all ranks) and lower ranked "Joes." So, if they went into combat during the last two years, they would start at only about 60% strength even before taking their first casualty. Not a good starting point...

IMO, it's in as about as bad of shape as the Army of the Carter years. When I went in as part of the Reagon build up I was trained on equipment that had seen use since Dad's time in Nam. Stuff older than I was. Seriously, five different backhoes three of them farm tractors with backhoe bolted on. All civilian models painted green. The Abrams that was state of the art and replacing the 60 then is now approaching fifty years in service. Sure it's been upgraded over that time but it is still a design that was on the drawing boards in the 70s. Discipline, morale and training? I'm scared to even think about it. Meanwhile we got needless hot wars in Ukraine and the Middle East we are supporting with China rattling sabers in the pacific. We are in dangerous times.
