Saw the first live one I've ever seen yesterday, he was close to 5 ft. Long slithering through some short grass, his head was in a big clump of grass, when he came out and saw me, he went from zero to full speed quicker than the blink of an eye, very fast moving snake,

Cool looking snake! We came across a black racer when the boys were a lot younger in some small pines with no understory. I told them I’d give whoever caught it $20. Wish I’d had something to record with while watching those boys try and chase that snake down, lol.

Up here in the northeast we have red belly racers but they are only 30 inches long, that I know of. A lot of them around here if you look......jk

That's a beautiful color variety.

I have caught lots of Black Racers and could never get any to tame down much, even over months.

Black King Snakes and Black Rat Snakes, on the other hand, usually won't even try to bite.when you first catch them if you just support them, without restricting them. They get really tame in about an hour.

Really like the racers. They are good to keep mice away. Pretty colour tones.

We had blue racers, I remember as a kid sitting on the tail gate of my aunts truck as she drove us kids around in state park, dragging our feet on the payment. Then I felt a bump and looked up and a racer was in my lap I through back to the payment and that thing started chasing us, it was crazy.. but the look on it's face was like what the heck just happened.
