I have traps set all year for mice and pack rats, catch them by the pound especially in the fall, they will destroy your vehicle.

My brother told me they chew on um cause they are coated w/ peanut oil. But he is saturated w/ alcohol. I use moth balls seem to work.

Muskrats will travel a long way away from water to chew wires in cars and trucks.
The next time I find a vehicle with chewed wires, I'm gonna buy the bad harness from them and bottle it for high dollar muskrat lure.
Keep your eyes peeled for "18 Gauge Muskrat Lure" at you favorite vendors. "Guaranteed or I'll return your harness." (Something like that anyway. I'm new at this get rich quick stuff.)

My friend started his car up one morning and smelled gas ..
Drove to the local coffee shop , and when he got out he noticed gas dripping out on pavement..
He then decided to quickly drive it to the repair shop …
The mechanics put the car up on the lift to look for the gas leak …
As he shined his flash light up from below , there was a set of eyes looking down at him !!!
There was a woodchuck still up in the engine compartment and he ate the gas lines !!
They managed to knock him loose into a garbage pail and let him go …..
It was funny until he got the $ for fuel line repair job

One of the benefits of going green; soy based wire insulation, just plain dumb.

I was told that Irish Spring soap would keep them out of my RV I bought 4 bars and cut them in half and put them all over my RV didn't help did see teeth marks where they gnaw on the bars of soap.

LOL, I don't know how Irish Spring soap got that reputation, people constantly recommend that stuff to keep deer out of your yard too. Dedicated deer repellant is just a food enhancer here, but a bar of smelly soap?....nope
