it's like when all your aunts and uncles are in their 80s and 90s , you know your going to funerals soon you just don't know who will be first.

RIP. Met him in 1995. Company I worked for hired him to come in and speak and hang out a while at a managers meeting. He didn’t mix words about what he thought of johnny bench. Another story a trapping friend told me just last weekend. His dad was friends with Pete’s dad. Pete and his dad came to their house and the dads were in the house. My buddy was six and Pete was 12. He said every throw Pete threw him was a short hoop like he was trying to hurt him.

Was lucky to grow up close and watch him play many many times through the years. One heck of a ball player. A blue collar guy who worked his tail off to be great.

The Big Red Machine was sure fun to watch.

What Pete did was nothing compared to what goes on today.

Charlie Hustle . Grew up in the era of the Big Red Machine. Over 600 AB one year and popped up to the infield once. The hit king just outworked and out hustled everyone.

Pete Rose got screwed out of the Hall of Fame.

His son, Pete Junior was on my first soccer team. We called him Little Sparky Hot Dog. I haven't talked to him or his dad in many years.

I don't think his athletic skills or talents were ever in question. If admission to the hall of fame is based on that then, yes he should be in.

If it's based on personal choices and decisions always being moral or just, there wouldn't be anyone in any hall of fame.

Grew up with the Big Red Machine and Charlie Hustle. Was at Riverfront Stadium back in the day and got to watch them play, my Gma took me. I met Johnny Bench at the Montgomery Inn, he Like Pete was a good ole boy. Just found out he passed over.

My opinion, he should have been in the HOF years ago but wasn't because of an idiot, not because he didn't deserve it. I hope they don't do it posthumous cause ole Pete was already in his own HOF! RIP ole boy, you were amazing!! Thank you Charlie Hustle, for the greatness of watching you play ball and the memories I keep close!!

When I was a young lad, I was inspired by his hustle. He sprinted out of the batter's box on every ground ball that he hit as though each one of them were as important as one hit with 2 outs in the ninth inning in a game seven of a World Series.
THAT was how I played in every sport I ever played in. It was because of him.

Sorry to hear of his passing, he was one great baseball player. His hustle was his trademark. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
