As a kid growing up, oatmeal, Ralston (was the best of all three) and cream of wheat. Now.......if oatmeal......steel cut oats, raisins, brown sugar and mix of whipping cream and milk. Cream of wheat OK too. As long as grits are cooked and not instant, grits are A#1. Butter and cheese, make a puddle of them on your plate and a couple runny fried eggs on top.....no need for any kind of bread or toast, but does require bacon. Leave out the bacon and you may be violating at least 5 or 6 state laws......or should be.

I’m embarrassed but I like ketchup and onions on a hot dog! I also like Dijon, and if you want a real experience; bbq sauce and French fried onions

Grits are a southern thing. Go to any grocery store south of Mason Dixon line and they may have 3 to 5 different options for cooked grits. By cooked, going to take at least 15 to 20 minutes. Some grits about the size of BB's and may take an hour. Up north.......instant may be it.

As a kid, my favorite breakfast (not cereal) was hot buttered toast in a steaming bowl of milk and salt & pepper . . . aka "milk toast" . . . when older . . . Grits & Shrimp! :-)

I've had grits twice and thought they were foul. I would try shrimp grits if they were heavy on the shrimp. I could at least pick the shrimp out and eat them.
Do shrimp grits have whole shrimp or tiny pieces of shrimp in them?
Keith Depends on who makes them :-)

A forth form of hot cereal is cooked brown or white rice. Again.......mix it with raisins, white or brown sugar, cinnamon, then add half and half or whipping cream.May need a pinch of salt. Served hot. Not rice pudding.....just hot rice. That is fit to eat.

I’m sure! I could go the rest of my life and never eat a banana.
You’ve never had banana’s foster then. [/quote] I have had a dessert. Pepperidge Farms Chessman Bananas fosters pudding. Look it up. It was a nice dessert and I adore those cookies. But still don’t care for bananas!

Oatmeal, cream of wheat, malt of meal, all of it is good, butter and a lil sugar, add maple syrup on occasion. Cup of hot coffee a slice of buttered toast good to go. X nay to the Offee-cay Heartburn city for me I know a lot of you guys love it but I can’t stomach it. Only time I want it is when I’m still hunting deer and then the heartburn is so bad I want to leave

LOL Vinny referred to them as a grit...what does he know, anyway ? Hes just a YOOT ..... Love cream of wheat. And Malto meal. Oats too. Some on here have great mixed ingredients for that. My father made the ultimate GRIT meal...a mess of grits on the plate....lots of buttah melting in, salt , peppah, floppy bacon chopped up on top, and how evah many eggs , basted, on top. Mix them all togethah . That meal would last all day.
