tried few things with the mess of crappie we caught Friday night
I didn't have Masaca or corn meal so I didn't get to those breading's yet
this was the winner for head off gutted cut some sits , rub it in tony Shakaries and drop it in the pan. cook fast , clean fast , and you can eat every bit of meat and some of the fins they are crispy like a chip.

I also tried one head of gut out breaded and fried , it was good but not as crispy as no breading.
this would be about the perfect camping fish
hot oil , one paper plate to season the fish on , very minimal cleaning of the fish , then pass out fish and stand around eating fish tossing bones and drinking beer.
my hunting partner and I ate a bunch just standing around the grill drinking beer and eating fish while I was trying different methods
the wife liked the head off fried after she tried it , just a whole fish on her plate took a minute for her to try

no it can't be looking at you it's head is in the freezer waiting to be catfish bait.
these sort of remind me of peel and eat shrimp , that was a thing when I was younger all you could eat peel and eat shrimp nights, it made you pace yourself , my father in law the SSgt always had a competitive streak and tried to keep up with my eating of shrimp , he must have been hurting leaving those places.
I can't eat a 1/4 of what I used to eat and I think I had 5-6 crappie head off fried with the shakaries and a few fillets
these 3 were my early attempts at gutting I was cutting both side of the fin, I realized just stick the knife out the anus and one cut and all done
