Day 6 after the storm. Power came back a couple hrs ago at my residence. 6 days without was enuf!
Burned 50+ gallons of gas in two generators. Saved all my food and all trapping-related frozen stuff.
Got tree off wife's she-shed and got it tarped today. Got tree off my shop. Finish that roof tomorrow.
I still hear several generators running in this town. Probably had their supply line torn down from pole or weather head.
Been moving two tractors and a trailer load of items from friend's river property. Alapaha River is forecast for a record flood by this weekend.
We had to saw our way in there, but it wasn't too bad...only about 20 pines and oaks.
Just got home a few minutes ago. Got everything moved out to another location out of that river bottom.
I'm blessed!

Great to hear! We are still burning gas in the generator. It will be at least a week or more for power. Not complaining though. One of the hardest things is we don’t know how Florida or Georgia is doing? Glad you guys are good!!

It's such a good feeling when the lights and air conditioner comes on.

That was surprisingly quick given the circumstances. A little cheer always goes up here when power is restored after one of our frequent outages.
Eh...wot?

See videos on news of storm damage in MOUNTAINS of NC........am wondering if there has ever been such storm damage from hurricanes that far inland? Live on a coast and you expect that, but that far inland, way up high?
Normally when a hurricane hits land, it looses steam and starts shutting down and falling apart. This one kept going like it was still over water. It then hooked up with a different low pressure system, did a little do-si-do, then the two merged before finally shutting down and falling apart. All that took several days.
At least one search and rescue team from MO still down there. News said they had been tasked with searching a 10 mile stretch of some NC river today.....both sides. Cadaver dogs checking out the brush piles, snags, etc. Several hundred now confirmed dead......one of worst natural disasters I can recall.
But good to hear power slowly coming back up. Recovery going to take awhile...but like eating an elephant........got to start with the first bite.

Just heard that some parts of NC may be months before power is restored. From the pictures and video I have seen, that doesn't shock me. Roads are gone. Buildings are gone. Not flattened, just gone.

Several i went to school with so yep, most of them come from small towns and all of us who live in the south have dealt with ice storms knocking out power or tornado's so they know what's it like to go without power for extended days.
Ga. Power does same thing when we get hit though, like how all the power company's work together to keep things turned on.
