I been a hoarder my whole life. Little late to hoard now. Bread and milk can be frozen. Seems like a waste of freezer space to me. Especially since wheat and milk are produced locally.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Disaster preparedness is not hoarding. Hoarding is a liberal term.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Buying things a little bit at a time, long before disaster strikes, is just being prepared. Panic buying is rushing out when disaster is on the way or after disaster strikes. I don't care if other people think I have too much toilet paper. My kids are going to be clean and fed, even if that means someone else's family who thought they could rely on fragile supply chains has to stink and have an itchy butt.

Hoarders are only short term, sooner or later they have to start using the stuff and are out of the market. Even stuff that don't go bad can eat you up with interest , storage and insurance.

As far as buying out the stores before a disaster, If I was a store owner in the path of a pending disaster, I'd rather lose an empty store than one a full one.

I heard people were hoarding toilet paper again. I personally haven't used toilet paper for years. I just butt scoot like a dog.
But anyways I do know that couple communities here in WI. We're loading up semi trucks with supplies to ship to hurricane flooding area. I'm going to guess there is a lot of paper products in that. Especially since WI is a paper product producer. Maybe their confused some of the hoarding with that?
I would would think might want buy foreign made Christmas gifts early.

I remember a few year ago I was at Walmart and was going to get some water and the shelves were empty. As I went by the entrance to the storage there was 3 pallets of water and I thought oh they just ain't put it out yet. Then I saw a sign on the first one and it had the name of one of our local churches which was going south to the latest disaster. Disaster affect us all one way or another.

well said , a little here a little there building up a months or so worth of what you use maybe longer on the TP and certain canned goods , a years meat

if everyone had been prepared we wouldn't have a tiny fraction of the panic buying , or issues related to it.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
