Removed overhead power a few years ago and ran it underground. The steal riser pipe that is now hollow is rubbing on the tin roof when it warms up from the sun and makes the popping noise. . The noise travels down to the box.

Yea, sometimes it’s the weirdest thing. Like vibrations coming off a tight hv line down the pole and along an over head house service…..lol
Wind Blew, crap flew, out came the line crew

Tic-Tacking.
We interviewed an elderly gentleman for a podcast and he talked about a thing they did when they were kids, called tic-tacking. I had never heard of it. They would take a string and a tack, attach it to the side of a house then go hide in the bushes and pluck the string. The vibration would resonate through the whole house.
Was having dinner with a friend whose elderly father was living with him and I asked him if he knew what tic-tacking was, he started laughing and recalled the method in exact detail. lol
