https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y45yHd9Lg_kWas working in my office tonight and this song came on in my que. Got me thinking of the men in the county I grew up in, Cameron County, PA who died in Vietnam. I missed Vietnam by 1 year, the US pulled out a year before I graduated High School. But we lost 2 men to the war, ANTHONY ANGELO GENNOCRO ARMY SP4 19430615 EMPORIUM CAMERON 1966 04 28 Y (remains were returned). THOMAS EDWARD CLARK AIR FORCE MAJ 19390415 EMPORIUM CAMERON 1969 02 08 N (remains were never found) I obviously didn't know them, but their names were often spoken of in our small town. Can't help but feel for the loss of their families, their sacrifice. I know that the Dixie Chicks are surrounded in controversy, but they seem to understand the feeling's of so many Americans of that generation. I can't help but get over the reaction from the crowd. They are too young to remember but is obvious they feel the impact of the sacrifices made.

Great song but I liked the Chicks better before Natalie got her Butch haircut.
I have nothing clever to put here.

One of the most memorable moments of my life was when I met a man who was a Vietnam veteran. He of course told me his experience coming home, how devastating the situation was. Painful. He lived like a lot of our seniors, especially broken vets. In terrible living conditions. I asked him if anyone had ever welcome him home. He said no. I took that opportunity to thank him for his service and "welcome home " . He teared up and it was just such an emotional moment between two strangers. I'll never tell that story without choking up.

I wish I had song writing talent. I would write a song about betrayal by the government to all those combat vets since WWII. They served in good faith. Defending our values. Only to have the rug pulled out from under them.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

You better be glad you missed it by 1 year. Most of the young men that served in Vietnam have issues of one sort or another. I don't see how they were defending this country from anything. Just involved in another countries conflict.
My dad was there, and he's not blinded by what went on. I know quite a few Vietnam vets. I don't know of any that has any serious "issues". I rather resent you making that statement!! Pretty disrespectful of our veterans on this forum!
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

The only issues I'm aware of are the ones created by our own. Please forgive me, but this is far beyond my time. What did the media say about the Viet veterans?
