I prefer adjustable sights on them. had a single 6 without them. it didn't hit to point of aim so it went down the road. I have a single 10 with adjustable sights and enjoy shooting it.

the bearcat size is great but fixed sights is why I never bought one. But I like to not only be able to use them for dispatch At 5' but be able to shoot a squirrel or rabbit at 40 yards if I want to.

if you have the $ you will never regret a single 6 well unless you lose it.

they cost a bit more but have better sights

the wrangles is a single 6 in an alloy frame to make a price point , the grips , the size , are the same , other than the wrangler is the price point gun without adjustable sights, just a notch in the receiver.

the super wrangler 22lr /22mag is patterned on the single 6 combo and does add adjustable sights

the bearcat is a little smaller and lighter and lacks adjustable sights.
but in blued or SS the single 6 or the bearcat or the single 10 are what you might call heirloom quality 22 pistols I guess if you call any 22lr pistol that.

the wranglers are the price point guns and when parts wear out it may not be reparable that said they work great for the trap line I have 2 , bought the second one from a guy who dropped it and buggered up the end as it is very soft metal , I filed that smooth and I could care less as a knock around on the line I go that one for 100 dollars.

the wrangler and single six share the same holster size

the bearcat is a smaller holster.

I've got the Super Wrangler. Good shooter. I ordered it because I wanted the adjustable sights. It is a little bigger than I was expecting, but overall I'm pleased. I do wish the front sight had a color other than all black. It can be hard to pickup in darker situations. The rear sight is also wide. I would have preferred something a little smaller to help facilitate more precise aiming.

a little paint can help with that , cheap easy
you can get specially paint some even glows or , you can get a bottle of bright color nail polish and if you don't like it a little lacquer thinner takes it right off.

When I started trapping, I took my Single Six. It didn't take long for me to realize that I needed a beater gun. If it's a trapline gun, I would buy the Wrangler.

Used the paint. Still wish it was thinner.

use the Single 6 sights from Williams , they are the same pattern as the super wrangler

https://bushcraftusa.com/forum/threads/ruger-super-wrangler-sight-upgrade.363496/

very little changes in actual design from the single 6 convertible to the Super Wrangler just made from less costly material and more cast parts to not cost as much.

I bought my single six aboard ship In 1960. It's seen a lot of action. I paid $65.00 for It out of the ships PX.

how did that work , I a co-worker of mine who was air force in the 70s talked about buying guns at the PX on base in Alaska , he bought a Ruger Security 6 and a few others while stationed there had more questions for him but he up and died of cancer.

it sounded like they were able to keep them in the barracks with other personal firearms locked in their locker and go out hunting when not on duty.

how did the Navy work , bought it then kept it in quarters or checked it into armory ?

did they have a time to shoot off the back of the ship or anything like that?

Gotta look hard but there are adjustable sight bearcats. To me the perfect 22/32 single action revolver.

I like the Bearcat. Small enough to drop in a pocket, no need for a holster hanging off the belt.

It's now made with a adjustable sight version.

Fixed are fine at dispatch ranges. If squirrel hunting where distance comes in I'd want adjustable sights.

The gun had to be kept In the armory at all times. I never saw It till retired from the Marines. I probably could have checked It out to to do some shooting . But we could check out a jeep and take our M1s out and shoot black tail deer on base.

standard ball ammo or did they sell something else in the PX for hunting?

If I were to do it again, I would buy a SS Single Six. I don't even know if they were available in 1973 when I bought my "old Model" Single Six. I have carried it through literally thousands of trap line miles in the 51+ years I have owned it. Still going Ruger Strong! If I ever have to replace it, it will be with a Single Ten (Stainless).

I wish they would make a 10 shot wrangler.

I have a stainless Single Six. Came with two cylinders. Got it in 1978. It’s to nice of gun to take on a trapline. That’s what .22 Heritages are for.

I like this little wrangler revolver. It could be so much better with a 9 or 10 shot cylinder though.
