Neighbor has had cats disappear for a night and come back neutered. If they noticed the stitches they have not said anything. We have two in the house. Used to have to trap 3-4 mice every fall when they would come in looking for warmth I guess. Have not seen any droppings under the sink or anything for several years.

Kill em all. Here where it's cold in the winter they will sit on anything black and pee on it. Leave the snowmobile out next thing it's smells like cat. Fish house the same.

I surely ain’t gonna run and tattle about this and I DO agree that feral cats are a big problem in some areas but this thread is HORRIBLE for public image.

You haven't been here long enough to witness a pit bull thread. This is a level one compared to those.

I’ve heard bits and pieces. I’ll tell you in my fifteen year career I’ve met more nasty Shephards, Shar Pei’s, Chows, Rotties, and even Labs than I have Pit Bulls. That’s just an observation tho. Wouldn’t have a Pittie myself probably.

Just saw 2 more new cats walking around the barn last night. Citiots probably dropped them off as usual. Will have to catch them if I see them one or two more nights before they stink the whole place up. It's a constant battle here

Feral cats have no protection, our town has far to many, some people feed them 24-7 draws in all other free loaders bunny huggers are a problem here, as a retired CO told me many years ago a cat 500 feet from a inhabited building site is a predator and can be shot on sight. cats are a problem nation wide.

Interesting. I've never seen a cat kill a chicken. Free range chickens have always lived around barn cats here. (Chicks would be a different story, of course.)

You need to understand the differences between a feral cat and a domesticated cat they are 2 different species totally different. In the grassland plains it’s a rodent Mecca add animal feeds, grain storage and it compounds the issue. A lot of the bigger operations want cats around for pest control purposes some places the wilder the better its just good rodent control for them one less problem to deal with.

I had chickens go after kittens once not newborns but not at the roaming age yet “fuzzball” size ones, it was shocking one started in then a couple other cats jumped in I had t break it up.

We free-range our chickens next to our cats all the time, there's never been any issue. If a cat does get a bit too curious, a hard peck on top of the head cures them of it quick.
Eh...wot?

Barn cats are not feral cats. Neither are outside cats that don't stray off a couple acre property. Females stick around and kill pests.
The farm bordering my rear property line had a major rat infestation. The guy bought the place 5-6 years ago and isn't a real farmer and doesn't understand pest control even though I urged him to address the problem several times. When rats started showing up on my property I dropped a few cats off at his place without his permission. It took 4-6 months but the rat population on his farm is way down now and I haven't see a dead one (killed by my cats) on my property in a coupe of years.
